After many trips this summer to Westport, we finally came through. I took out board member Havnfun and his brother and this is what we produced. Funny thing is that, Havnfun (Ray) got a hit and passed it off as a jelly fish, then he set the hook and handed the rod to his brother. The fish promptly emptied almost all the line off of his reel before I got the boat turned and gave chase.
This fish was 46 inches long and 28.75 inches around (girth) , by Bobs calculator this fish weighed 49 pounds, but it read 45 on my scale on the boat.

Nice king Steve. What a lousy weekend to be on call. Wish I coulda been there with you... maybe next time.

Katosan went out solo after I turned his invitation down, too. He had three big kings on that he could not handle single handedly. He nearly got spooled by one before he could get his manual downrigger "reeled up"

Nice one steve, beautiful fish. You got my #38 beat. You must have been fishing "BIG S" if you were in the jelly. I got my fish about 4 mi E of that way point.

I think i might be fishing the Tides Tavern a few nights this week. Ill be back out on the big water this weekend though.

We brought home a #30 on Saturday, but had a couple of monster fish on the line. It's hard to be disappointed with 30 lber, but I would have like to seen either of the other 2...

One of them hit so hard it sounded like we had just run over a log..."BAM" and the line was screaming off the reel. I didn't even get it out of the rod holder before it had cut my 40lb leader.

The other we fought for 5 minutes and it cut the leader before I could get the boat turned around for the chase.

Oh well, that's what keeps me coming back for more...

Fishng1,

Sounds like youd better find a way to secure those big fish. If one of them was to slide around it might crack your hull in a few spots.
