Getting time to get the fly rods out for some steelhead on the dry fly over here. I go out in the garage on pull out a double fly rod case ( the type that holds two rods with reels attached) I un-zip the thing and all this sawdust looking stuff falls out everywhere. Next I see mouse crap... I pull out the rods , a 9 wt Sage RPL and a Powell, and am shocked when I see that the little basterd ate all the cork off both rods like a piece of corn on the cob.... How it got inside ( just a very small hole in the top of the case) or got down into the tubes I'll never know... So I start looking around a bit. I tie flys and have a box thats full of various capes and some very expensive neck hackels ( I am talking 50 bucks apiece for some of the # 1 Metz ) I have some polar bear patches that I have had for years and are not replaceable... a couple of full jungle cock capes.. some rare stuff... and the little ***** ate the backs off most of them.. I feel like a survivor of a small terrorist attack...

As soon as my wifes cat gets close enough to me, I plan to kick it... hard. I wonder if I could get my home owners to cover it ??? Funny that these are the only things that got nailed and there was no evidence visable that would indicate any mice around..

I am pissed

Know just how you feel. The &#%^!%^@ got to my rods that were hanging on peg board in the garage. They go after the salt left behind by persperation. I fixed the handles by cutting cork rings in half, reaming to fit, then glueing them together on the rod. I set out a trap baited with peanut butter, and cought 4 of the furry sob's. Kids thought it pretty funny watching the old man dancing around, whooping it up every time I got one in the trap.

A mouse only needs a hole like the size of a dime to squeeze thru.

I've had them destroy the seats and fill the fenders on my GTO with dog kibble (at least 20 lbs. of it), but the rudest thing they ever did was eat through the floatation belt on my survival suit. I mean, that's like cutting someone's brake lines.

It's not your cats fault, most studies show that people who abuse animals, abuse humans, Not only do I feel sorry for the cat, I feel sorry for your wife.

My friend Tammy that I work with also saw your post and wanted to say a few words. How could you feel good about abusing a defenseless animal--why not pick on someone who can defend itself? Is that why you would hurt a cat, because you're afraid you'd get your ass kicked by another person you decided to abuse just because of your bad attitude? Just wondering.

Leeeeeets get ready to rumbllllllle! I love a good ass whopping! Where's this throw down goin down?
B-Run, I'm putting my money on you!
I had a rat eat up my flex tubing to my gas grill this past spring. So I get this trap and cover it with peanut butter and set it under my grill.
The next day I go check on it and to my suprise, the trap is licked clean. So I go about setting it again and checked it first thing the next morn.
The whole trap is gone now!
I think I don't want to piss this rat off!

This is not a joke....

Kill the cats and buy traps instead.

No cats. No mice....Perfect.

Back from vacation and I stumble into this thread - too funny \:D

Traps are the way to go. Nothing like finding little turds all over the place to ruin your day. Be sure to leave the trap a few days after you get one to send the message to the rest of em. I always thought that's what they should have done with Hershall...

I had to deal with some rodent issues and found that the traps are really satisfying when you see the little ******* in there, DCon is way more effective.
No more anywhere.
Make sure you get rid of the attractants like dog food and bird seed, grass seed.
Nothing like a mouse climbing up your windshield as you drive down the street.....
That sucks about your rod grips......

Bologna works better then peanut butter and no clean up of the peanut butter from the trap when done. I whacked an entire family in my garage. Got the Mom, Dad and two kids with the kill bar as they could not resist the Bologna. I do like the idea however of sniping them. ;\)

My parents use peanut butter on a piece of banana. I guess the buggers eat it rather than lick it and....snap! The banana itself would probably drive rats away like it does fish. By the way...I don't think the banana feels a thing.

Got first taste of revenge this A.M at 06:05. While making coffie I hear the trap snap.... Peanut butter for bait... The little thing was still qivering so I smashed its head with a ball peen hammer.... SWEET. Decon is in place also. The wife ( you know, the woman I am accused of beating etc ) is worried that the mice will eat the decon.. then her cat will eat the mice and die....

I am thinking that would be a win, win situation ???? Easy now Jackie... don't you and your girl friends get all wound up and have a hissy fit... I am just joking again... The cats safe. However, keep in mind that if you do actually come over here to try and kick my ass, there is some law about crossing state lines in a Miata if a man is driving it.. and if it has one of those rainbow stickers on the back, its like a felony

I wouldn't use poison!!!!

They eat it get real sick and go curl up somewhere and die .... problem is that it can get REAL STINKY as they slowly decompose. Kill them in the traps, that way you know where the carcass is!!

side note on cats... to keep cats from pissing in your boat. use a live cage trap like the ones for raccons. and before you turn fluffy lose to go back home to the cat lady down the street,, set the pressure washer on low or medium and give fluffy the once over.
now the key is not to let up to soon. if you just piss it off it will come back in a few days keep up the water treatment until the cat gives up hope and just hangs its head in defeat.. after that they never come back. takes a week or so to get all the cats in the area but its well worth the work and really fun.

remember that if you turn the trapped cats in to the pound it cost the owner 75 bucks to get them back. after a few times writing checks they start to keep their cats locked up in side.

B-Run,

I'm with Paul in B'Ham...don't use the poision! If one of those little stinkies gets into the walls and dies..it will breed maggots, smell and cause damage.

Also, as fan of kitties, I can say losing a buddy to poision is a horrible thing to watch. I lost one of my favorite cats, as a kid, when he ate a poisioned gopher. It was awful to see.

And no, I ain't no PETA person. Spent many years as a trapper. Actually, I call them "Anal Rights Activists", as they are a bunch of ...well, you understand.

Or Starcraft, you could trap them, Give them to your buddy with hounds, and put some lion or bobcat scent on them for training the pups.

That keeps them away pretty good.

I wouldn't know though.
