My buddies and I are making float plans and strategizing for the biggest derby on the west coast next weekend. Fishing Friday night, Saturday and Sunday on the chuck.

I think alot of you fishing in the rivers will find some 'Ho's but some may most may have been in there a whle and feeling a bit reluctant to bite; I guess we will see how the week shapes up.

So who else from the board will be out participating this weekend?

I'll be out, but I have not decided if the river of the salt is where I'll fish. Got a couple nice cohos in the river tonight. One went about 15, and I saw one close to 20 at the ramp.

Cheers!

I'll be there. I think probably west side of whidbey somewhere, but well see how later this week shapes up.

That is the great thing about a multi-day tourney, lots of options.

SKY,
I can't make it as I will be fishing the OTHER big derby this same Saturday (18th)

That's right, the South Whidbey PSA Coho Derby. \:\) A lot of fun and drinks and chow served at the weigh-in.

I'm staying away from Possession, as I expect it will be swamped with boats from both sides of the water. I'll probably be fishing in Area 9 up around Bush to Lagoon Point in my 14' fiberglass runabout (blue) with Penn Downriggers - If you make it that far north, say hi!

The fishing has been slow the last 2 weeks - and a lot of Chum starting to roll on through.

Hmmmmmmmmm........ What to throw at 'em?

Bringing both tackle boxes for this derby!

I'll be our Fri, Sat and Sun too. Stopped at Greg's in LS and picked up some Gami and Owners and started typing up some fresh leaders last night. I'll be out with a couple of buds, a couple of fishing pals too. I'll fish Friday and probably just sleep on the boat Friday night down at the marina. I'll be in my slip at C North. If you around stop by if ya need a cold one or want to try a Buffalo turd \:D Don't know how much sleep people will get down there considering it's pretty much just a big party down there for the derby weekend.
Anyway, starting to get fired up! Got pretty much everything down at the boat and ready to go. I'll go down and tank her up tomorrow, maybe go for a run. Any guesses on what will win her this year? I'm gonna say at least a 16+.

I hope the weather shapes up a little. Either way it's gonna be a great fishing weekend again.

Last year a 16# fish won it. This year I think you'll need an 18-19# fish to be in the top 5 or win it all.

All this rain has certainly pulled some of the big boys in from the ocean too, so it should be interestingwith the possibility of some fish larger than 20 out there.

We have 3 boats in our team that will basically be spread out from middle area 10, to middle and north area 9.

Good times!

I think the rain pushed them into the rivers because it's slowed down a lot out there the last few days. noticed the water temp is a couple degrees colder at the surface too. Hope a new batch is here soon.

What with the derby and a lot of non-derby fishermen as well this coming weekend, how darn early wil one have to get to the Everett ramp to get in the water without a major wait and be able to find a spot in the parking lot? Thanks.

If you leave now you should be alright...

Not kidding. Tomorrow evening will be nuts. I was just down at the marina topping off my boat and I'd say it's about half full. By tomorrow at noon it will be full. Sat morning by 4am the traffic will be out and on to marine view drive. You may want to try some other launches if you plan to go sat am.. The last couple year 13th street is lined with rigs all the way to the yacht club. If you can, launch tomorrow, get a free spot at the boat launch and tie up. You can always call the port of everett and see if people gave up their slip for the weekend. I got a news letter asking for people that wouldn't be theri this weekend to let other people use their slip. I think it came out to $30 for the weekend??

Thanks guys for the feedback. I was afraid that would be the case. Had been thinking about going up there to launch instead of making the run from Shilshole like I did last year but as long as the weather doesn't get nasty like last Saturday AM will just have to do 'er again. If you happen to spot an older blue and white 20' Fiberform out there with blue canvas feel free to give a holler. CB ch 4, VHF 16 or possibly 68. Call sign Dancing Lady.

Stopped by the launch this morning on my way into work. I wanted to make sure I got some fresh herring. Well. they didn't have squat. There were about ten bags of 2 to 3 inch herring in the bags. But, those guys are making a run to Grays Harbor today to get a bunch in the green size so there will be some for tomorrow. I was there at 5am and not as much action as I expected but it was still a little early. I am sure throughout the day it's going to pick up a lot. So, anyone considering when they should get their boat into the water about now would be your best bet. ;\) And, there is going to be plenty of fresh bait for tomorrow \:D

We picked up two huge silvers this morning despite the choppy conditions and wind. Biggest hook nose we've got for several years, about 18. Looks like it will take a big fish to win.

Not tooo many boats this morning, probably due to the wind and chop. Was rough at the Snohomish mouth and got worse off Mukilteo.

Anybody fishing the derby Sunday interested in trading boat rides, I'll give 1 guided drift boat trip this fall/winter, your choice salmon or steelhead for a day either on the Snohomish system or Puget Sound, doesn't matter I have my own gear just need a ride.
Unfortunately, my boat is being built and won't be ready for 3-4 weeks.
