Hey guys!! Just wanted to get an idea for this weekend my father in-law is up to see our third child that was born on tuesday 21st. Thought I would try to get him out on some fish. I was wondering how the fishing was on the chehalis opener, and where our best be might be. I know that they were doing fairly well at the Johns and Hoquiam Rivers so I am trying to decide if we should go there instead. Just hoping to get an idea from the fishing gurus. Thanks for the help!!

We had a pretty good day on Thursday at the hoquim river. Fished both tides and got kings and silvers on both tides. I have to vote for that area if i were going today.

Hey thanks, I sure appreciate your help!!

We fished the Chehalis today, put in at Cosy, pulled out at 2:00 with one jack. The fish checker noted .5 fish per boat. YUK!!! I guess tommorrow I will need to be somewhere else, like the Hoquiam or the Johns. How did everyone else do?

I also launched at Cosy and pulled out around 1:30- 2. It was very slow. I ran upriver past Blue slough and down river to the Hoquiam river. Did not see much action at all. I lost one jack silver and my friend lost a jack. Fish checker checked 7 fish for around 17 boats when I pulled out. One boat that pulled out behind us had 2 kings and one silver. Was much better fishing last weekend in the harbor.

FishCatcher,

How much time did you spend at the mouth of the Hoquiam? Did you see any nets fly?

I plan on fishing tommorrow, either there, or the Johns. I have a budy that was doing pretty well at the mouth of the Hoquiam this past week. So I think I'll pass on the Chehalis tommorrow.

I was there around tide change. Only long enough to troll from 28th st to the Hoquiam river and back. I only saw one fish on and lost so we headed back upriver. There was 1/3 the number of boats compared to last weekend. The few boats we talked to had not any good either.

Yeah, real slow!!!! I am gonna fish anyway at daylight till around noon, probably at the mouth of the Hoquiam because I don't want to make the drive to the Johns. Just need to take my boy fishing and hope he can hook up! Hope to see you guys around. Good Luck!!!

We put in at about 7:00 because my dad slept through his alarm, but my 4 year old son nailed an 8 pound silver right in front of the river. Made my whole day. We saw tons of boats, but did not see that many fish caught. You would think with that many boats that the fishing was excellent, not so...... We had another good hit but lost it after a few seconds. New plan for next weekend unless we get some rain.

Went to the river today. Got there about 7:30 and went up river from Cosmoplis ramp. Nothing doingup that way. Went down to the mouth of the Johns river and at noon hit one very nice nook. 41 inches long and 24 inches girth. I have a very nice picture but have no idea how to post them to this board. Saw lots of boats but have no way of finding out who is who or how to find out who to chat with out there. I run a 16 foot C-Dory with green trim named Scorpio so if you ever see me down that way swing by and say Hi. Icelander

We will keep an eye out for ya!! We travel in a 17 foot Clackacraft modified drift boat with a 15 hp Evinrude. It also has a Lamiglas sticker on the front. I usually have my 4 year old fishing budy, and others with me. We would love to chat and exchange info.

See ya on the water,
Mack
