Okay, I fished MA 13 yesterday. This lure accounted for the death of two clipped coho south of the bridge. \:D

For what it's worth, I've not heard any recent reports on 9 or 10 either...

MA13 a zipperlip? I didn't know there where any zipperlips in the Sound \:D

MA13 is underfished and underrated for a variety of reasons- has been for about the last 20-years. (Please keep thinking that folks- makes fishing a lot easier for me.) Generally, I don't usually find too many folks out fishing until the end of July through September. The rest of the year I am generally the only one out.

I believe you are wanting a report for Squaxin?
Squaxing can be hit or miss. One day it is hot, the next day cold. Although the fish show themselves regularly, you need to keep moving to find fish here- they move quick! The fish really have nowhere to go- they scatter and move around.

Some other areas to prospect are Rocky Bay, Coulter Creek and the Nisqually Delta.

Squaxin is not a zipperlip. It has been a good fishery for a lot of people over the years. Just not a lot of folks fish it- too many other top producing areas for people to head to, i.e., Gray Harbor (now). I would even go as far to say, some of us South Sounders head north to fish for larger Silvers than hanging around down south.

Personally, I think you would good better fishing blackmouth right now. Everyone and their brother (or sister) has been fishing suspeneded for Kings and Silvers for the last couple months leaving Mr Blackmouth unscathed... Try the Chambers Creek or Green Point area. There is usually a ton of bait and fish here mid October.. I'll be out on the 13th. If the fish are still hanging around at Squaxin, I'll be trolling Wiggle Warts, spoons or large orange Spin N Glo's..

Hey guys,

I've been cathing these net pen silvers this week by getting in front of schools and casting plugs or spinners. Cranking back to the boat at a pretty good clip. Most of the strikes have come as the lure starts to rise close to the boat. Anise scent has been working well.
Also starting to see more chum in the area.

Hey slabhunter, that ain't no fire tiger!!! Looks good, amazing how the beat up old lures do better than a pretty new one! I haven't been out lately, but sounds like you got the right ticket, casting in front of the schools. I haven't seen too many large schools yet this year.

Chum?? You gotta' be kidding! I have never seen one there, but I would love to!! Maybe this weekend I'll get out.

Steve,

The firetiger warts were all sold out down here. I believe the action is more important than the color. I've removed the little wire doohicky from the Brad's Wigglers I bought. And use a size 10, rolling swivel W/ interlocking snap to conect to my line. Fishing from a drifting boat or while anchored didn't really seam to matter. The imoprtant thing was to get the lures in close to shore, eight or so feet of water around rocks.
Also that was a new lure before the fish attacked it that day. I even handed off a fish to another boat allowing a young boy to land a small hen. It was cool watching him crank that fish in.

Steve-o,

Should be a few in the area right now. Might be able to intercept some right off Hunter's Point (Pickering). End of the month should see a ton of numbers heading up.

Switch over to eastside (Solo Pt to the Can) in mid November.

I catch a few off of Gibson and Green Points every year when fishing for Blackies.

Hey DR, Trent was out all day yesterday (Monday) with no biters, only saw one small one landed. Slow day, threw everything but the kitchen sink at them. My boat is currently out of commission as I'm installing a fresh water cooling system and torqued the themostat housing down too much and broke it. Dag goned thin aluminum!! Gotta' wait for a new one, hopefully get out this weekend.

Steve,

I was headed out tomorrow, but the wife is taking tomorrow off. Guess I'll shoot for late morning on Thurday. Eager to try your "special" seasoning on some fresh Blackie!

So tomorrow I will head over to Narrow's to see if they want to help sponsor our Novemeber festivities in Elliott Bay.

Welcome back, Downriggin! I'm headin out on Sunday, with me luck! Tried Squaxin last week with no luck, cruised over to the can and went along the tracks toward Ketron and marked TONS of fish. Some indians were netting just north of the can, and according to the boys at Zittle's, they got over 8000lbs of fish in one day! I witnessed on haul myself, and there must have been near a hundred fish in that net in just over 15 minutes of time. At least they were throwing some back, nice to see, albeit a token gesture. Bob.
