...past or present. The white trashier the better....

I had ford tempo...the drivers side door closed with a bungee cord.

The factory clear coat peeled away leaving it looking like the skin of leper.

I hit a deer doing (fast!) and completely annihilated the drivers front quarter....the resulting wildly gyrating shimmy at 60 mph caused a few of my girlfriends to express their fondness for the ugly duck.

I fixed that though forever by failing to notice a bucket of sand shrimp had worked its way down to where the spare tire goes in the trunk. Took me about three weeks before I realized it wasn't 'just some left over fish slime' making that stink and by that time it was far far too late. Some rain had gotten in through the rust holes in the trunk and made a pool of rotting three week old sandshrimp soup.

You can't just turn a car upside down and rinse it out unfortunately, so I never really could get the smell completely out.

Every morning, same ritual...start die, start die, start die, chortle................run. Drop into gear then feather, feather, feather.......... die. Start, run, drop into gear and drive. It was that easy.

Tell you what about that car though......that fkr went everywhere.

Eventually the drivers side drive axle broke and i junked it for fifty bucks. When I bought it from my brother it was in pretty decent shape. I think it only lasted another two years before it met its doom...

...oh, and there was the time i forgot to put the oil cap back on it and went for a twelve hundred mile drive....

Good topic, brings up some fond memorys of my.....

1965 chevy 1/2 ton. Dull dark green. Back off mud flaps ( Yosemite Sam type) Crappy camper, ( Montana bell, AKA the stabbin cabin) with the jumping rainbow trout sticker and jumping whitetail deer sticker. Had a 292 straight 6 that ate water pumps about every 6 months. Kept a spare one at all times. It had a spot light that stuck up from the roof of the cab that had a handle in the cab so you could shine it all around ( very nice). We screwed coat hooks onto the back of the camper so we could hang and bungie cord float tubes on the back while driving, and hang wet waders when camping. Home made roof rack on top of camper.. beautyfull.

It ran rather well in spite of a lack regular oil changes etc, and always kept a good set of tires and a couple of spares. Handy man jack and tow strap behind seat. The inside had a rubber floor so you could just hose it out. One year we had a warm spring and a pot plant sprouted in the collected grime near the shifter.. I have no knowledge as to how that could have happened.

This was in the fly fishing only days so we put countless thousands of miles on it on remote dirt roads in eastern Oregon and Idaho. I had it for 10 years from high school on. The Stabbin cabin meet its end on a dirt road near Unity Oregon. We were climbing up a steep part of the road and it just fell out of the back and rolled down the hill and off the side. The tie downs had come loose... bummer.

I sold it for 600 bucks to a guy who worked with my dad. He tore it down to the frame and re-did the whole thing. Its a hot rod now and the 292 is long gone. He told me once that he had something like 25,000 dollars into it by the time he got done. I sorta liked it better the way it was.

I already receive crap from my fishing buddies for this so I might as well let the cat out of the bag.

I always told my Dad when he went to sell his rig I wanted to buy it. Well I was given a fully loaded 96 Ford Explorer last year that looked brand spanking new and was perfectly maintained so my fishing rig rocks. Although Beezer will give me crap for it being a Ford but you can't argue with FREE ;\)

Even though I am 34 it is still dang nice to be an only child of two very generous parents

1979 F-250. My father gave it to me before he passed away and even though I can afford a lot better now, I still enjoy driving it. Before I restored it, I never minded driving around with a totally oxidized paint job, stock crappy, rusty rims and a vintage camper. Since "Stabbin Cabin" was taken, I'll refer to it as the "Sin Bin" lol... Have been through two engines and restored it with fresh paint, interior and other stuff. I have my 911 terrorist hunting permit on the back window, 2004 use permit and usually my boat hitched on.

My freinds tolerate it, my wife is indifferent and my kids hate being picked up at school in it. And I'll still drive it until it dies...Hooah!!
