This was my first year fishing with my boat in the sound and man did I have fun catching the silvers this year!?!?

I mostly fished around Mukilteo, Edmonds, and Shilshole. What's next now that the silvers are done?

Chums are in I hear though I've not had a chance to go out in the past week. How about the blackmouths? When are they in and are the areas mentioned above good for them?

Thanks!

Aaron

Blackmouth will begin Nov.1st for areas 8,9,10 I think. Posession Pt., Point No Point, Camano Head- Race Track & Hat Island are the go-to places. Fish ON THE BOTTOM in 90-120ft.

Join the Sno-King Chapter of Puget Sound Anglers & fish the blackmouth derby on Nov. 20! I'll be there!

Good Luck!

Aaron-- Silvers aren't quite done yet... you can still catch them in staging areas-- and some are as chrome as they were at Neah Bay in August.

However, chums are starting to show I've heard. They are a hoot and decent for the table fresh or smoked if you gut and gill them quickly and don't keep the skanky fish.

Aaron,
In area 9 and 8-2 you can fish Blackmouth starting November 1st. Growing up in Port Townsend, we did this by mooching or jigging, and I really enjoy this method now around Whidbey Island. Very easy to find the bottom this way, and you can just shut the outboard off and enjoy the morning.

Jigging is very simple, and effective. Point Wilson Darts, and 4" - 5" buzz bombs both work well for jigging. Colors I've had luck with are white, or green/white. I'd suggest going as small on the lure as the current will allow.

Mooching is also fun in the right location. I hear Pt. No Pt. is a good mooching spot that might be easy access for you.

There have been some good threads on how to do this on this board, so give a search for either subject if you're interested.

Blackmouth fishing is a lot slower than fishing the summer runs - colder too!

Good luck.

Thanks for the replies guys... I might try and get out one day this week to try my luck with the chums and am anxious to have a whack at the blackmouths.
