10 of us fished out of the Shearwater resort back in July. Had a great time , great staff, etc. We got a package deal since a friend of ours fished up the a couple of years ago. Everyone brought home limits of salmon. We also brought home a 26 pound ling. We did the fly in all inclusive package and could have been happier (and tired from yarding in all the fish). We were there about a month early for the real big fish but everything was 14 lbs or bigger. Our largest was 22. Biggest for the group was 35. It's tough throwing back 10 and 12 pounders all day when you're used to fishing the Sound. Check out their website at Shearwater.ca. Or reply back and I'll be more than happy to explain our whole package.

Sorry for the long wait. Big honey do lists before vacation. We fished in mid July. I think I remember them saying the big ones were more into August. We booked a little later in the year so all those spots were gone already. We'd go back in a hearbeat but I have a free Marlin trip in Australia waiting on me next year. It's good to have globetrotting friends!l

Thanks for the reply. Still thinking about it. IF I go it will be Mid-August anyway. Aussie trip is your best bet for Grander marlin - good to have globe travelling frnds BTW, there is pretty good article on top ten Marlin spots, including Cairns in Dec 2004 issue of Sportfishing mag. Good luck. Jim

By the way, the two biggest kings were 45 and 46 pounds.

I stopped in Bella Bella on the way up to King Salmon AK in late May. a guy at the dock said he had good success on the springs, he had one about 20 LBS. As I flew out I noticed a some large schools of fish and bait a little north of shearwater.
