I just sent another one:

A lot of people are asking the same question I am!

http://www.piscatorialpursuits.com/ubbcgi/ultimatebb.cgi?ubb=get_topic&f=1&t=019674#000020

Select a better fish, as in a nice steelhead, bright silver or king, even a sockeye in spawning colors, and then Ill buy one, but until that happens, no thanks. Im sure there are several guys out there that would like a bass or walleye plate too. All we get is a pink, and a boot to boot!!!! Get a better selection of fish, such as the “hunting plates”, and I’m sure you guys could make a lot more money. But what do I know, I’m just your average sport fisherman, not a deep pocketed commercial rapist, but that’s another subject.

I urge everyone else to let them know what you think.

I have also sent an email,it was sent the first day of the original post.I to recieved no response.I explained to them that the pink salmon holds no real value to the sportfisherman when compared with any other available fish.My opinion is that a king salmon would be a great replacement and that it could only be topped, possibly,by a native steelhead.Maybe we are dealing with an artist and a friend in the DOL,and it is about advertising a persons work and not about offering a consumer what they would really like to have.If they were to offer a good fish i would buy it no matter where the money goes,as long as it does not pay for a project that only benefits king county.

Wow, they responded:

Thank you for your email correspondence regarding the steelhead license plate.

As we do understand there are many species that are great potentials for the new license plate series, we found it necessary to limit our designs at this time to two, as time constraints of getting signatures and the submittal deadline to the Department of Licensing, Special License Plate Review Board, did not allow us time to create additional designs.

At this time, the Fish Program will submit two new license plate designs, the salmon and crab license plates. These designs are the first of what we view as many possible new license plate designs.

Once the salmon and crab license plate designs are approved by the Special License Plate Review Board, they will then be provided to the 2005 Legislature as a bill for final deliberation.

We will keep you informed of the process mentioned above along with a notification of when the second round of designs will be available.

Thank you for your comments,

At this point, I could careless if they put a sucker fish on the plate , I just want new plates and it will support the Salmon. I have 12 signatures right now at work. 4 for Salmon and 8 people want the crabs.

Unfortunately the photograph on the salmon license plate is a chinook salmon. We have received a number of comments regarding the fact that it is not apparent what type of salmon is on the plate, and will work on the photograph so that it more accurately depicts the chinook salmon.

Thank you for your comments,

I really can't tell ya what fish it is...but it does appear to be well into the "boot" stage.

Those guys/gals at WDFW need a major reality check. That fish is hen pink!

Reminds me of an old Hall an Oates song:

I think Talking Heads said it better:
