I was crossing the Hood Canal Bridge yesterday at high tide and there were Chum jumping all over on the north side of the bridge. The public fishing access is closed due to construction work on the bridge and I didn't see any fish working close to the shoreline, but there were lots of fish off the mid-bridge area.

$80 worth of ferry cost to round trip my skiff across the Sound to try these fish has me hesitating. Otherwise I'd put in at at the county park, which has had the dock removed for the season and try small herring on a long flat line through the schools of fish fish about 200 yards north of the bridge.

I don't know if there are any security restrictions about fishing near the bridge, there was one boat trolling there yesterday.

And there is the possibility that all those fish might be gone down the Canal on the next tide.

The Zone was pretty busy today. Lots of boats, fisherman, and fish.

Floated the Sky today...a few silvers, a bunch of chums, all on wrapped Kwickies.

Alas, very few fresh fish from the last high water. Kept one hen chum with sea lice, the rest of the chums were not keepers.

Fish on...

Todd

Hey Sebastes, that was me you saw doing exactly what you suggested trolling on the north side of the bridge. It was a beautiful day to be on the water and we had some takers. Get on out there and try it because is kind of scary being the only boat against all of those fish. You have to stay 150 feet from the bridge... Don

Don,
Thanks for the info. I hate to ferry my skiff over, but I have a friend that lives in Kingston that can trailer his. Maybe in the next couple of days.

This time of year there are too many fishes not enough time.

Kennedy was a little slower today than it was last week. Ended up going 0-6 or so. You tend no to land as many chums when fly fishing. All well, they all go back anyway!

Went over the bridge to PNP to work my Sister-in-Law's furnace at about 10 this morning. Fish jumping everywhere North of the bridge.

Well, about 3 or so this afternoon I noticed a fleet of purse seiners chugging by PNP headed toward the bridge.

When my wife and I left to head home I looked South and there the fleet was.
End of story.
