I have a question for you jig makers. Once you pour the lead into your mold, how long does it take to cool down before you can remove the finished jig. The reason for the question is that if I purchased a mould with 5 different size jigs and only wanted to make a 1/8 th oz jig it seems like it would take forever to make just a handful. Another question does anybody make unpainted heavy wire eagle claw o'shaggasy hook jigs to sell. If so, how much would you charge?

1/8 oz jigs should harden up in a matter of seconds.

Gamakatsu makes a variety of jigs, with their super hooks. Cabelas has them.

Shawn-- I used to pour hundreds of walleye jigs each year because a) I'm cheap and b) we went through so many and c) we never could get the right jig/hook combination.

Don't worry about cooling time-- as soon as you pour it, the jig will solidify, and if you're not quick, it will solidify before you're finished pouring. However, duh, it will be way too hot to handle.

But if you're only going to be pouring 1/8 ounce heads, spend a few dollars more and buy a production mold that is only for 1/8 ounce heads. It makes things a lot easier.

Shawn:

You could pour more 1/8 oz jigs in a hour, than you'd use in years of fishing.....stay with the combination......sure as you don't, you'll wish you could pour some 1/16 or even 1/32. There are many times the smaller size will outfish the 1/8 oz.

Use good hooks.........Owners or Gami's....

Pink, purple, black are colors that have been known to work.......
