We started out at the Elliott Bay Public Fishing Pier (Pier 86) at about 8pm...
Squidding was pretty slow, and the squid seemed a bit on the small side. About 9:15 or so the circuit breaker tripped, so all the lights went out.
Not wanting to walk the 1/3 of a mile back to the truck, and then back, with my generator, since the squidding was pretty slow, I took off.
Ended up with about ten or so from there...
After a bite to eat, I drove out to Seacrest Pier in West Seattle, where squidding seemed a little on the slow side, too. I arrived there around 11:15 or so...
At about 12:45, it picked up, and pretty much got two every three casts until 1:30, when the genny ran out of gas.
Ended up with a total of about 40...maybe 3/4 of a limit or so.
Definitely worth going out, but only because I stayed really late.
I heard at both places that squidding has been more productive earlier in the day, say 4 to 6 pm, but that may be because of the tides. It was low tide when I started, and when the tide was moving steadily in, that's when it really improved.
I think I'll probably go back out on Friday afternoon and give it another shot...
Fish on...
Todd

Go to Sportco. They have (or used to have) jigs behind the fishing counter. Just ask one of the guys there and they pull the box out for you. They are the homemade looking ones.
I went out last night. Cold and wet. Gotta love it. Only managed a dozen or so but we got there about a half an hour after high tide. People were leaving with pretty good amounts as we were coming though. Gonna try about an hour before high tide tomorrow.

Cutty, yes they do get them at Les Davis. Also Dash Point and sometimes the Point Defiance Boathouse pier. Get 'em also at Des Moines pier and Redondo.

Parker,
The Kid and I have done a few fishing trips this fall, and one squid trip. We didn't hook up last night for squidding, as I was hoping, though...

P.S. Squidding was very good last night...bucketed about 3/4 of a limit and had to leave at 11pm...and it was really heating up when I left.

Thinking about trying Squidding for the first time this weekend maybe tomorrow night. Do you hit it 1 hr before the high and fish through it? Also is there any luck at the Mukulteo or Edmonds peirs? Thanks, Steve

Edmonds yes for sure, but I've never heard much about Muk. Ideally, hit it a couple hours before and fish through the high, but it can be good on other phases.

My favorite mooching rod is a YELLOW custom made by Walt Flint For (William Blodget of Browns Point Wa.) fiberglass rod 8.6' and fairly stiff and with a consistant action, capable of mooching in up to 180 ft. in approx. 1+ kt. of current with feel.
