pacificnw - nicely done! As a non-combat vet, I hold this day special. Not for me though, for all the folks who have been through combat. I think it's sad that we have to search for a Veteran's day parade these days. Our hero's from WWII are nearly all gone. Our hero's from Vietnam and Korea still need our thanks. Let's not welcome our Gulf and Iraq veterans the same way. These folks need our 100% support, no matter what some people think about our involvement over there. "One nation, under GOD, indivisible, with Liberty and Justice for all"

Thanks to all that serve and served, combat or non.

As a vet of the first gulf war I know how important it is to have the people at home support you. I respect every vet past and present for the sacrifices they have made so I can live free and enjoy the things I do. Thanks again.

I am aware of some true Vets who have to work today because they have families to feed. I also know of a lot of people who have never served anyone but themselves that have the day off... because its veterans day.. Something thats bothered me for years.

I like to remember this poem when I see the VFW volunteers selling the silk poppies:

In Flanders fields the poppies blow
Between the crosses, row on row
That mark our place; and in the sky
The larks, still bravely singing, fly
Scarce heard amid the guns below.

We are the dead. Short days ago
We lived, felt dawn, saw sunset glow,
Loved and were loved, and now we lie
In Flanders fields.

Take up our quarrel with the foe;
To you, from failing hands, we throw
The torch; be yours to hold it high.
If ye break faith with us who die

Veterans from all across the world sacrifice so much so that we can be free. They deserve our thanks every day.

This morning at first light I put up my flag. It's still up with lights on it. Thank you to all of our veterans.

I will never know , but I will never ever forget what has been given to keep our country the best in the milky way. Thank you all.

My flag flies daily not just on holidays.

Always has.....always will!

Thank you very much to all who have served or are serving this Country. I watched saving Private Ryan last night and I was stunned shocked and couldn't help but imagine all of those guys and gals over in the mid east fighting for the rights that let me sit there and watch that movie and sit here and type this thank you.
