I'm just starting to fish with jigs and floats and wanted to get an idea of how folks organize their jigs. Do you use Plano utilities? Fly boxes? Zip-Loc bags?
Thanks,
Keith

I like fly boxes myself. I will put jigs and flies in them sometimes one works better than the other

Jigs don't work. Toss them out.

Seriously, I carry mine in either a small Plano plastic box, which I like because it does not mat down the fur or feathers, or in a large fly box for the same reason. It takes a pretty big fly box to be able to hold the 1/4 ounce sizes on both side and still close, but there are plenty out there that will serve.
I do like to pouch pictured above and will probably add on to my ever growing pile of tackle. I suppose the fur and feathers fluff right back up once the jig is in the water.
Mike B: I have now caught several coho while fishing for chums, using the ole cerise jig and prawn meat combo. Stupid fish just dont know what we are after. I suspect this winter some steelhead will be confused as well.

I use the cheap zip lock craft baggies from Walmart. 2" X 3" for for just jigs and 3" X 4" if I've pretied them with leaders and swivels.
I pretie primarily to apply supper glue or nail polish to the knot at the jig to keep it on top. Anyone have any other good way of keeping the jig hanging level?

RB: I do not do much special to store my jigs. Because I seldom use scents or bait with my jigs they are in pretty good shape after use. I just put them back in the fly box and leave the box open to let them dry. I can see where that might be a bit of an advantage over the wallets. I usually take no more than a couple of dozen jigs with me and often only fish four or five in a day. The cerise jig I landed a dozen chums on yesterday is now in the garbage. The paint was all chipped off the head, the feathers were trashed and there was prawn goo on them. . (PS All my jigs face to the left. I'm considering tossing out all the red ones and just fishing blue )

Until then, when it comes to catching Steelhead I'm kinda like John Kerry--I'm willing to 'flip-flop' to what ever color or method that will entice 'em to bite. Thanks again for the tip.

I saw this on the Ifish Board last spring. This is the coolest way I have ever seen ANYONE store their collection of steelhead jigs. innovative jig storage

I take old VCR cases and glue foam to each side. Holds lots of jigs and it just fits in my vest pocket.

Wow-- thanks for the great responses. I was thinking of using fly boxes to store jigs, but after losing a couple of Glo Bugs out of one of the SA boxes the other day, I'm tending to re-think.
I love the pouch as I've used similar for storing soft plastic baits for "other" species, but I've yet to find one sized for jigs; Sportco isn't close but I'm off to Sportsman's Warehouse sometime in the next week, so I'm hoping they carry it. As for the ammunition boxes-- that seems like a no-brainer and would be very appropriate for a boat angler. I'm not sure how well a .44 box would work in a vest, though. On my next trip to Sportsman's Warehouse, I intend to find out. I may even dig up some reloading boxes from back in the days when I used to hunt a lot .
I love to fish both floats and jigs for other species, and this season is going to be a lot of fun... I'm looking forward to it with a lot of anticipation. I'll be practicing on chum this week, I think.
Thanks again,
Keith
