Just a heads up to Bob, the mods, and any of you out there who are members of both boards.

Jennie suffered an aortic dissection today and is undergoing emergent surgery to repair the aorta and possibly heart valve replacement as well.

She needs our prayers. You out there, Mooch?

Here's a link:

Thanks for the heads up FNP, this is the first that I have heard of that, hope everything turns out okay. She is a hard working gal, and puts everything into that site. We are pulling for her.

It seems that even when we think we have problems, there is always someone else whose need is greater.

I just got home from the hospital this morning after having three stints placed in a 99% clogged artery yesterday morning.

It went well, thanks to modern medicine and a whole lot of prayers and finger crossing by my friends.

My prayers and those of my friends will be focusing on Jennie.

Good to hear jennie is doing better. She's a tough gal, and already been through enough.

If you guys can also keep my mom in your thoughts. I got a call this morning from my dad...just as the ambulance was leaving his house.

My mom is in the CCU at the hospital in Kirkland, on a "intubated?" ventilator, and they tell us she also has congestive heart failure. Seems the next 24 hrs. will tell us what lies ahead. Spent all day there with my dad...tough waiting. I never got to see her conscious all day....not good.

Anyway...thanks in advance for the thoughts and prayers. This is toughest on my dad..they have been married over 50 years.

Mike

I'm sorry to hear about your Mom, Mike. I will say a prayer for her also, and one for you too.

Lord, thank you for hearing our prayers. Thank you for your merciful healing touch upon Jennie and Doug. Please be with them now on their road to recovery and a long life with you. We lift Mike’s mother to you in prayer for healing during her very critical time of need too. Please also be with Mike and his Dad through this very difficult period as they put their trust and dear loved one in your loving hands.

Lord, we thank you because you do not forget us even though we often forget you. In good times or bad you are always there for us if we will turn to you; you know our every need and just how weak and fragile we truly are. Help us to remember you more throughout this day and not forget that you are the reason for this season. For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.

I just read the latest update about Jennie's condition, and all things considered she's doing good. She'll be in the hospital for a while and still has several months of recovery, but things are moving in the right direction.

Awake, alert, and eating. Great news!

The downside is she has regained enough of her senses to know she just doesn't feel well. The healing will come, one day at a time.

John 3:16 - a most appropriate prayer. We too will pray for Jennie, Mike's Mom and all those who are ailing.

Update Fri Dec 17:

Jennie is still improving ... I suppose the medication had something to do with it, but she was singing a duet with her dad today - it was a great thing to hear. Jennie was able to take a short walk, another great thing! It sounds like she might be out of intensive care by the time the weekend is over! She still seems very weak and can't focus on anything for long, but things keep getting better. It's really remarkable how much change there is in such a short amount of time.

Way to go, Jen!

12-19-04 report:

Jennie is down to one IV, able to get to her feet on her own and starting to think about things beyond her immediate condition. She's not going to be doing much for a while as chest surgery takes a long time to heal, but every day there is progress. She's still very tired and easily fatigued. I don't know what the doctors' plans are, but I'll hazard a guess that she'll be home for Christmas. I wonder if Bill will be able to get a hospital bed up the stairs by himself!
