LA Times Poll Had Sample With 38% Democrats, 25% Republicans Tue Jun 15 2004 10:13:47 ET
Sen. John Kerry "has taken big lead," according "to an L.A. Times poll."
But the Times poll that showed Kerry "beating Bush by 7 points" has created a controversy over whether the poll's sample accurately reflects the population as whole, ROLL CALL reports on Tuesday.
"Not counting independents, the Times' results were calculated on a sample made up of 38 percent Democrats and 25 percent Republicans -- a huge and unheard-of margin," ROLL CALL claims.

You aren't lauding the Bush administration for the drop in gas prices are you? If it weren't for that knuckleheads foreign policy decisions prices wouldn't have been at 2.25 a gal, making a dime drop seem significant....
Inflation fears, both by the market AND the fed are legitimate. Retail spending is up but so are prices. Most retailers will wait a touch to recoup their losses due to gas prices in hopes that you won't notice, or in their words to soften the blow. Either way the true impact has not been felt, yet. Runaway inflation is a serious risk....
If the economy is 'booming' why hasn't the stock market responded in kind? I think its because most analysts are convinced that the current gas situation is untenable for much longer, if it isn't too late already.
Call it doom and gloom if you wish, the reality is that this situation is directly attributable to Bush policy. No war in Iraq, no skyrocketing gas prices and inflation pressure.
Again, for the deaf or blind, I am highly optimistic that good foreign policy decisions can undo the damage over time. Don't confuse my ire with pessimism....when we are dancing on this administrations grave you may have trouble discerning my optimism from glee.

Gas prices were much lower on 9-11 and the stock market was where on Oct 11th. I suppose Bush foreign policy was to blame for that. Hey lumber prices are through the roof right now I bet Cheney has his finger on that button from some bunker somewhere.

TK, don't you remember Bush placed a tariff on Canadian lumber imports to artificially prop up domestic lumber prices? Short memory.

selective memory
...supply side economics has the government propping up business interests whilst expecting its citizenry to solve their own problems. Its cheaper to charge tariffs than it is to address the healthcare crisis in a meaninful way, for example.
Compassionate conservatism, my ass.

Yeah, Short sighted is right when you bring up health care. Kerry mentions 43 million with out "affordable healthcare" then he goes on about how this is below the richest country in the world. notice the use of " without" followed closely by the word "rich" thats liberal speak for bendover tax payers. Given how well the feds are at running other similar socialist programs we are in for a anal workover if that program ever flies. Lets see the two largest spending item on the federal buget sheet today are Social Security and Human services programs. Whoa Nelly! they have mandatory % increases through 2030 making them up to 60% of the federal buget? Well lets add another program just like it. There are answers in the private sector for this issue rahter than creating another SS admin like boondogle to provide sub standard service.

I know ,I know Dr's and drug companies are thieves for expecting to make a profit on 10 years of school or billions invested in research. While the same people calling them theives milked every cent they could out of their companies via unions and ROI via stocks and retirement programs. it's ok if you do it but wrong if others do it. The great logic flaw of the liberal left.

TK, why are US drug companies charging foreigners in foreign lands far less for drugs than they do US citizens? You'd think it'd be the other way around wouldn't you? You mention doctors but nothing about insurance companies, the true culprit, in your selective reasoning. And before you go on about the necessity of tort reform to drive down insurance costs lets first have insurance companies show us their books so we can all see that the rates being charged are justified.

I think the entire world is pushing for Kerry. No doom here GP. Thinks are looking mighty fne this November. Gas prices "down"? I heard oil spiked up again yesterday. IMO, we will never see prices fall back to what they were. Severe spikes have always raised the bar permanently. I'll charge you an arm and make you feel good by offering you back three fingers. Just keep paying your taxes so the Iraqis can continue paying five cents a gallon.

Stlhd,
The rest of the world is for Kerry. I cannot believe i am shocked that you think this is good thing. What did your parents do to you?
You should turn over every dime of your income that is not needed to keep you alive to the govt. Why should you profit when you think it's wrong for others. Btw youcan go online and look at most of the insurance compnaies books. Ahh I forgot you have no idea how to read them.

The entire world is not the same as "the rest of the world". The entire world includes the U.S.....except for neocons. So, Pulman brainiac....go online, pick any insurance company you'd like and show me exactly what was taken in on malpractice insurance premiums and what was paid out.

Stlhd,
Why just malpractice?
AM,
I read gallup polls just fine. You do not understand margin of error. call up Gallup they will tell you the race nationally is a statistical tie. You pick a poll that suits your agenda that and leave out the margin of error and regional bias statements. So doe the LA Times or El Tiempo de Los Angeles.

How is a statistical tie losing? I can show just as many experts that predict a comparative landslide win for Bush. BTW how many elections have been decided by something other than the economy? How many sitting presidents have lost elections with strong economic growth?
Nice dodge however and please answer the question.

TK, because that is the "basis" for pushing tort reform and limiting awards.....high malpractice insurance premiums. So, if you have a way of deciphering what is taken in and what is paid out then I'd like to see it. Here's the reason you can't produce it. Insurance companies took a bath on market investments and turned around and raised premiums to regain the loss on bad investments. Their "problems" and high premiums have nothing to do with malpractice lawsuits. And, until they prove otherwise I say we sweat them and offer no legislation that will directly benefit them.

Stlhd,
Again spoken from a place dark and moist. I have an insurance licsense as well as RE licsense and a few others as a consultant. Premiums are going up for one reason Risk has gone up and there is fewer places to spread that risk . Sub insurers have all but dissapeared in the wake of 9-11 and some big natural disasters . So the larger national and regional insurance companies have only limted palces to spread risk if at all which means your rates go up. Businesses will see a doubling if the have not already and individuals will see cancelations in high risk areas like the NW and increased prems. There are insurance commisioners in every state. Companies have to file petitons for rate increases that generally take two years to get approved. In this process they have to open the Kimono to the regulators to show actuarials on risk and loss to justify the increase. It's all open to public disclosure if you are that concerned about it.
