The Pope has publically denounced the Iraq war as unjust and immoral. He even told Georgie, "God is not on your side if you invade Iraq." I may be going out on a limb here, but I'm guessing he bases that opinion on his conversations with God. I'm also assuming the Pope and God are pretty tight. However, GW has said in the past that God told him to invade Iraq. Doesn't that make one of these guys a heretic - or in the very least, a liar? Who's your money on?

I think George was speaking of helping the Iraqi people I Think he thinks that would be something God could get behind. The pope is the lead dog in an apostate church. Only when pressure mounted did he mildly condem abuse of children by preist. The church contiues to play leagal games to avoid massive settllements in the US. As the number on colonial oraganization in the history of the world, pot meet kettle.

I'm guessing that they may also have leaned FOR the US invasion of Europe at Normandy. Call me crazy but being surrounded by Mussolini fascists they MAY have had a different public view, but an invasion of good christian boys from the US probably sounded like a good idea.

"I thought God was kinda clear on the whole killing thing. Seems he didn't think much of it, nor his son either."
Think again. Have you ever read the Bible? In the OT, God led Israel through many horrible and bloody battle victories.
Yes, Jesus did ask that we love our enemies and 'turn the other cheek'. But in Ecclesiaties (sp??) it is clear that "there is a time for everything... a time for war...".
I'm not sure if God speaks to Bush or the Pope. I'm not Catholic, so I have my issues with the Catholic church and the idea of the pope. And I don't personally know Bush or have an intimate knowledge of his spiritual life. All I can do as a Christian is keep an eye on current events, study the Bible, and pray for guidance in a time of confusion, emotion, and dirty politics.

Hey goharley,
You started this post by claiming that ,"GW has said in the past that God told him to invade Iraq."
I challenge you to provide any evidence he has ever said that.
Your quotes are about as accurate as a Michael Moore documentary.

If you'd been paying attention you'd see that I posted that reference last year when it first happened. It's been in the news several times across the globe. If you fail to keep abreast of world news, I'm not doing your research for you. Try to keep up, will ya?

Again the 4 rules of bible interpretation apply. using them the case of war and killing are very clear as is the role of a man in defending his family. there are also many books on the issue that one can find easily if interested. Secondly the Popes opinion is no more or no less than any other persons on matters outside of biblical doctrine.

Hey Goharley,
I don't need to do any home work on this one, I follow world news and politics probably more than I should and I'm not interested in vitriolic diatribe--just the facts.
You started this post by stating that, "GW has said in the past that God told him to invade Iraq."
Again,
I CHALLENGE YOU TO PROVIDE ANY EVIDENCE HE EVER SAID THAT.
Since I know that you can't, you need to retract that statement and admit that you misquoted our President. Either that, or admit you were you simply lying.

Hey kkkk,
Your relying on quotes from the Palestian newspaper Haaretz? The newspaper that quotes Palestian Prime Minister Abbas in the same paragraph as leaders of well known terrorists groups like Hamas and Islamic Jihadists--They couldn't possibly have any interest in misquoting President Bush in an effort to mislead their readers (like you and Goharley).
It's funny how no other legitimate members of the press recorded such inflamatory words from the leader of the free world.
Doesn't that Iraqi guy who used to give the Media reports every day that Saddam's troops were killing thousands of American Troops each day and that complete victory was at hand (while you could see Coalition tanks right behind him knocking down Saddam's statues)--Doesn't he work for the Haaretz newspaper now?
For those of you who believe every thing you read--I think the National Midnight Star has a story (written by a guy with tin foil on his head ) that claims that Elvis is alive and well and planning a big come back.

"I'm not interested in vitriolic diatribe--just the facts."
Then why ignore them when they are staring you straight in your face?
This is just another example of why Bush is such a foreign policy nightmare. First, the brainiac wordsmith refers to our actions in the middle east as a crusade and then he tells everyone God told him to do it. Nice moves Dubya...what's next? I've got an idea....declare tomorrow 'smoked bacon' day in Iraq, that should help with the whole hearts and minds thing.
...all with that vacant, smug, fresh from the proctologist look on his face, too.....
I have a feeling Georgie boy will relish his next trip to the proctologist though after the upcoming election. I mean really...do you think this clown has actually won over a single voter with his missteps and "convictions"?
I got a feeling Florida dems are pretty pissed about what happened four years ago....
KK-
You wouldn't expect Scowacky(tabacky) to actually READ THE LINKS he challenged people to post, would you?
Of course not, the dude didn't even have enough wherewithall to suss out the truth for himself in this very simple matter. Did or didn't Bush make the remarks? Call me crazy, but when nearly every major news organization, media outlet, television station and yodelers throughout the alps are carrying a story.....well that's good enough for me.
To me this shows me that scowack doesn't even care if the "Commander In Chief" did say such things, he'd back such idiocy anyway....
....well? Would you?

Hey KKKK,
The Haaretz news paper is published in Israel (there is no country formally recognized as Palestine) , but if you read the article (which I did) it is obviously written to preach to the choir of Anti-American and Anti-Israeli sympathizers.
I believe the National Midnight Star is published in th U.S.--Does that make it a legitimate publication?
You said that the same quotes appeared in the Washington Post and the Washington Times--please provide those links--I'd be very intersted in reading them.
As far as your assertion that the same quotes appeared on Fox--I wouldn't know. I usually watch CNN's Headline news at night, not because of their unbiased coverage of the news--But because Rudi Bahktiar is really HOT!

KKKK,
Every single link that you, Goharley and Stlhdh20 have been kind enough to post in support of the assertion that GW said, " God told me to invade Iraq" is simply a reprinting of the original quote that appeared in Haartez and is perported to be heard by Palestian leader Abbas as he addressed leaders of Hamas ( a known terrorist organization).
Again I ask you: Given all the coverage of the Iraqi war and the inflamatory nature of those remarks alleged to have been made by the leader of the free world--Why wasn't it heard or recorded by any legitimate mainsteam news or media organization? Every time I see President Bush speak here and abroad there are at least 15 or 20 microphones recording his every word.
If you look hard enough on the internet you can find people that claim the earth is flat--Does that make it so?

I'll try hard not to sound patronizing but your refusal to believe that Bush is likely quoted correctly leaves me no choice but to spell it out for you....
...every american media outlet ran the story. Haaretz is a highly regarded Israeli daily, the highest circulated at that. For agencies like AP, CNN, Reuters to run the story
The Palestinian prime minister you referred to as a member of Hammas met with the president....
...we have sit downs with terrorists nowadays?
For arguments sake scowacky say Bush is quoted correctly....would it alter your view of the man's ability to lead competently?
If not then why even debate whether he said it or not, ya know? Just say he did, say he was right and move on. I suspect though that the reason there is some vehemence in your arguing such is that you are a smart guy and you realize what a huge error it would be if true.
You don't want to believe it because it would force you to have to reexamine your position on Bush's effectiveness as a leader.
Why is it that when anyone besides the president listens to the voices in their head they get put in the loony bin?

Hey Stlhdh20,
Thanks for not sounding patronizing.
However, you keep referring to an article that claims to report selective minutes (notes for those of you that went to WSU) between Abbas and leaders of Hamas (a known terrorist organization) and Islamic Jihad.
Like I stated before, there's no reason to suspect that Islamo-fascists would ever misrepresent what an Infidel like Bush said...Right?
You also said that I should just accept that it was an accurate quote (that was only over heard by an Islamic fundamentalist with his own political agenda) and just move on. Where to? The North Pole? Because I can quote my mother telling me as a child," that's where Santa Claus lives."
Merry Christmas!
Go Round-- and think outside the box!

Well, actually the notes (minutes for those studying through City U) were from a meeting between Bush and "Palestinian Authority Prime Minister Abu Mazen" according to the Washington Post, a respected and considered conservative paper. They even called the Whitehouse for clarification and the Whitehouse did not deny the claim.
So what does it take for you to accept fact? Personal witness? No wonder the neocons love the privacy that surrounds the Whitehouse. Reminds me of the good ol' Kremlin days.
