Kerry at Yale so it was the mid 60's. He probably did Pat Boone honky versions of little Richard songs.

Then his speach would of been "as a young man I was in a band and if elected I will pluck the strings of this counrty like a fine instrument again " then there would have been the " Band mates and groupies for the truth"

I'm sure he's got some great photos of all the interesting places he's seen that were taken in a friendly picture perfect environment.
You reminded me however of an interesting thing I heard a Vietnam veteran that served his full tour say, 'Some guys did have cameras with them in SE Asia--If you didn't bring one with you, simple cameras could be purchased in cities relatively inexpensively'--but he went on to say that the well documented 'damp nature of the surroundings in theatre often ruined any photos that you could have developed'.

Its the electrolysis caused by the salt more than the moisture in the ocean. The same ships hardly rust in freshwater. High humidity was a problem for celluloid film and most would have been using tri X which was developed in the mid 50's with a celluliod base I beleive. The insects where a problem for the paper. I have a whole scrap book full of photos from my granfather from WWII from the South Pacific. They took ships over he got stuck for 4 years with his undeveloped film and developed it when he got back. Much of it was lost.
Used to have my own dark room.

------------------------------------------------------------ I guess that's why the Defense department had to completely re-design Eugene Stoner's M-16 design and the ammo it fired in the damp SE Asian environment--because there wasn't a moisture and humidity problem there that created alot of problems for mechanical equipment.

Aunty M, I never said they didn't take them with them (I said just the opposite) The interesting point I heard that I was trying to pass along is that the damp and humid environment wasn't condusive to film longevity, and with all the battles Kerry is purported to have been involved in--it's unuasul that all that footage would come through completely unscathed--well maybe there was some rice shrapnel on it.

Maybe Kerry kept it in the same place that Christopher Walken as Capt. Koons kept the watch in Pulp fiction?
it would have made a great convention speech.
"I hid this uncomfortable roll of film up my ass for four months. Then, after four months , I was sent home to my family. And now, America , I give the film to you."
"The way your dad looked at it, this watch was your birthright. He'd be damned if any of the slopes were gonna get their greasy yellow hands on his boy's birthright. So he hid it in the one place he knew he could hide something: his ass. Five long years, he wore this watch up his ass. Then when he died of dysentery, he gave me the watch.

O'neill's 'Unfit for Command' has Swift Boat Veterans for Truth who were eye wittness' recount the whole incident. It wasn't until that was published that Kerry officially changed his version of 'hostile fire' to that of 'self-inflicted rice projectile'---he hasn't retuned the Purple Heart he got for it yet though. As for your other theory about competition between the services--that seems plausible. One thing I heard Bob Dole (a humble war hero) or someone else say is that perhaps Kerry should on a $20 bill or Mt. Rushmore (or both) because he earned 3 Purple Hearts, a Bronze and Silver medal quicker than any other US service member since our countries inception. He also did it with out spending so much as an afternoon being hospitalized---even Audie Murphy would be proud!

You mentioned on another post about a after action report of bullet holes in the boat--those came (along with the windows that were shot out) from a documented previous incident. It's all in 'Unfit for Command'--if I plan on seeing F/911, you should check the No. 1 best seller in the country.--RB ------------------------------------------------------------ And did you happen to catch his MOTHER OF ALL LIES! Can you say C A M B O D I A!--AM Read the entire WH trandscript of O'neill's comments (he says he was on the border in the same breath) before you look to see if someones nose is growing. It was Kerry that went before the senate and said that the Christmas in Cambodia was seared in his memory--then later flip-flopped and changed yet another version about what he did/wittnessed in SE Asia.--RB

I'm an apathetic apolitical geezer, so I bass (hah!) my decisions on totally irrelevant criteria. In this instance, Kerry gets my vote for playing a Pbass.
