Went out yesterday got 10 with the first group of buddies and another nine in two hours during the afternoon fish with the wife and son. Seems the fish are getting bigger as well, one 10.5 pounder and 2 in the 8lb range. Most are still faily bright and all but one of the nineteen we landed were dark red with no wormies. Hopefully they will extend again so we can fill up the freezer (some more). Get out there and have a ball!!!!

South or north of the island? North of 520?

We had an okay Sat, but got a late start Sun and got skunked today. Fished about 3 hours, all kirkland and northwards. Saw a few fish brought onboard, but not like Sat.

We sucked today. Kicker is broken so we were trolling fast. Got one (nice fish) for 4 or so hours of fishing.
We did pretty good on Kings yesterday though we put our time in at Elliot Bay. Our big fish was something like 18 on the fish checker's scale. We had another a couple of pounds smaller and a white king at 9 or so (didn't weigh that one). We also llr'd something like 4 fish including one that broke the leader near the boat after a great fight. Good times. All fish landed were on a Funky Chicken 3.0 spoon with a hot spot and short leader.
The crabbing wasn't bad either.
The bite on Elliot yesterday was fairly slow but seemed to go on and on.

No problem chief,It only became worse after you left.There is a distinct difference between the people at the launch,lake versus saltwater as witnessed today.These milfoil malcontents deserve each other.

zig, I'd love to know where you were having luck so that I can hit that tomorrow for the last day of the season. We were off Kirkland 6:15-11:15. Went 3/4. Saw some people boating a few, but not like earlier this week. Maybe the hot sun was hurting our efforts?

Tough fishing today, landed a couple. You are right about the launch loonies, get the heck out of the way until your ride is at the ramp!!!

We got 8 today. 3 Rods. No hogs. Started at sand point picked up one missed two.
Moved to Kirkland got one quik bite and that was it. Moved South of 520 ,was checked while going under the bridge, all good.
Did not mark many fish in the usual good spots. Went south of Seward park and picked up a few and missed a few more.
Long day GREAT SEASON

We caught seven, lost four this morning, south of Seward Park. Pretty good 8am bite and died off at 9:15am. 3 rods in the water, fished 6-10am.

Sorry for the delay, been workin' today. Fished Seward Park and some around I90. Not sure why we have been so lucky other than the addition of some power bait on the pink hooks. Slow or drifting is the key. We've had several hits while out of gear fighting another fish. We've thrown everything at them when it's slow with little success. Just have to be over the top of them when they're there. To Fastwater, I'll try to post a pic for proof, believe me, we were as suprised as you are skeptical.

Just to add confusion to the issue, we hit a nice fish after changing the trolling speed up. But our best success was to swing around and run back through a school when we caught one.

We went 2/4 this morning, didn't see many fish caught so didn't feel terrible about that. Had a wonderful time this Sockeye season, thanks so much to everyone here for all the tips -- you all made it much more fun!

27 fish to the boat today. North of 520, that's about as specific as I'll get. Released a handful and put 20 in the box for 5 anglers sharing 2 rods, two downriggers. Easy money fishery, just don't get stuck in the rut.....speed up slow down and drive the boat like a drunk. 100+ sockeye to the boat this season using nothing but red 3/0's. Scent is crucial to success.

Thank you "sukkai"! What a wonderful season we've had! The freezer is stuffed with fire red meat and have had too many good dinners to count! What an awesome year! Never had a trip out without limits, even at four. Pleasant memories of years past and high hopes for years to come!

Scent is the trick. whats worked best is to put a flame red (pink really) power bait nugget on each red hook. I soak the nuggets in Pautzkes krill juice and also spread Anchovy scent on my dodger as its strong. FISH ON and ON and ON this season!

I guess I was a launch loonie on Saturday then, becuase the only way my boat was getting out of the water was if we tied up and I went to get the trailer. It was just me and my son, and he's too young to drive the truck or the boat solo. In that case, the "wait out on the water for your trailer" technique doesn't work. Yes, there was some non-ramp dock space at Magnuson, but it was being used as moorage.

I don't understand why everyone doesn't just tie up, go get their trailer, drive it down, and take out. It takes 2 minutes to go get the trailer. It's really easy that way. The only time I've seen that this wouldn't have worked was a few years ago at Misery Point on Hood Canal during shrimp season, because a lot of trailers were parked like a mile from the launch.

If EVERYONE uses the "wait out on the water" technique or EVERYONE uses the "tie up and go get the trailer" technique, life is good and there's no problem. You can't mix the two, though, because you end up with mismatched lines of boats and trailers. So, given that it's probable that a lot of dads are going to take their kids fishing on Lake Washington during sockeye season (I wasn't the only solo driver that day), I think "tie up and get the trailer" would be the more efficient method.

Finegrain I sympathise with having to tie up and get your trailer but it can't work that way as you have to line up in the take out line with your trailer. I waited until I got an outside tie up and then got my trailer. I could have then driven it on myself but Tommy was on the dock at that point also tied up on the outside and drove it on for me. There you get the next trailer up and he's got to get his boat out. Not sure what the solution is but I know Magnuson is not built for large volumes of boats all coming out of the water at once.
