Drove out to Amber today, March 6. While the lake is still largely covered in ice, there is a navigable strip of water leading from the boat launch to the popular southern end, which is ice-free. I watched two guys launch and easily make it up there. With warmer temps this coming week things will only get better.

Fished Amber today, 7 March. The "strip" of water is now 25-30' wide and allows easy access to the southern end, which is completely open. The northern end of the lake is still iced in but is melting rapidly. About 10 of us showed up today. Nearly all were dunking bloodworms under strike indicators and getting good action. Most large fish, 18" and better, are being caught near the banks, with lots of smaller fish being caught further out. A couple guys fished within mere yards of the launch and tallied several large bows without having to expend any energy! I guess there's some benefits to ice cover!

nice, where roughly is Amber. I stay mostly on the rivers/salt but grew up in my floattube in Idaho. Dont need exact details but a rough guide would be great. cheers

South of Cheney, WA, which is about 12 miles or so west of Spokane via I-90. From Cheney head south on Mullenix Road for approximately 10 miles then turn right on Pine Springs Rd at the sign.
