I joined this board four years ago to be a part of this online fishing comunity, and participate I have. I've posted pictures of fish friends and I have caught, I've posted trip reports, I've offered up my opinion and knowledge on topics when questions have been ask, and I've shared my sense of humor. Over-the-top, hammer down, all the way. Like it or not, that's me.

I've met a handful of really cool people as a result, and for that I have no regrets. I'd do it all over again for that reason alone. I always figured I'd participate until it wasn't fun anymore. Today when I post pictures of fish I get the "self-promotion flag" waved in my face, so I quite doing that. More and more my input "on-topic" is met with the assumption that I have a big ego. Beyond showing a sense of syle and being humorous, I've never been serious in portaying myself as better than anyone else on the board.

Self-promotion and ego: The SolFly Tournament was not even my idea, it was Superflys. When he first mentioned the idea to me I was leary. In fact it was several days to a week later before I even committed to the idea. The name was Joe's idea, not mine. All I've done is use whatever popularity I might have to promote my half of the event and it has been NOTHING but a pain in my ass. From conservation groups to permitting to thirty-five pages of hatred on gamefishin and continuous personal PM's and emails: IT HAS NOT BEEN FUN. If the event itself and the good people that acctually show up do not deem it a great time I'll divorce myself from the event in the future.

Humor, highjacks and hyjinks: Sol this, Sol that. You guys throw peanuts at me like an ape in the zoo to get me to say something funny or outragous, and then someone gets bent when I start jumping up and down on the bars. My most ardent opposition calls me a "great man" one weak and "offensive" the next. Moderation goes from Big-Daddy deleting multiple entire threads to Parker, Garcia, D-3 and Bob leaving comments I've made alone until the thread goes sideways and implodes in discontent. Where's the middle ground? I'm clearly lost, I'm tired of being the one stuck holding the bag when shi% goes south. And before someone starts in with the "feeling sorry for myself" bullshi%, let it be known I really don't care anymore. I'm venting because I'm tired. I'm tired of being "Sol," I'm tired of the noteriety, I'm tired of everything.

P.S. Please don't run this thread out to multiple pages of "Sol, your great," or "See ya later, asshole." My motivation for the post is simply to let everyone know where I stand.

If you truly didn't care anymore, you wouldn't have spent the time typing this and claiming to have the "noteriety".

It is you, you enjoy it. You crave it, need it, want it.

Nice vent Sol. At least there's a few people around here, on all sides that say what they think. It probably took a little bit of an Ahole attitude to get this SolFly thing through, so Ahole on. And if ya offend me, who cares.

Now, back to making rags for me, the entertainment value isn't quite up to par here today.

Sol, Although I've never met you, I've read alot of your post and have found humor and good information. Yes, some of it is over the top, but that's the gamble you take when you're dealing with the public. You are not going to be accepted by everyone and I wouldn't lose sleep over it. When you express your opinion in public, there is always going to be some critisisim from people that don't share your views.
Your way of posting is what makes you the guy you are. Don't try to stop being that person. "try nothing, say nothing, be nothing"

I have lurked on here for years. Just started posting recently. Some people take this sh*t too seriously. You can't please everybody. Bottom line is when one leaves another takes his or her place. I've met great people on the internet whom I've fished with and become friends. Other than that it's all BS to pass the time-AA

SOL - never met you either. Yeah, you're over-the-top. But you've posted some of the funniest sheit I've seen on an online board.

Don't blame you for being tired - being at the cutting edge of humor/offensive content would take it's toll on anyone.

Part of the fun you have is in being outrageous - and part of the fun your critics have is in taking pot-shots at you.

That being said, you add a lot of ~life~ to this board. It would be a lesser place without your unrepentant craziness. \:\)

Loc: Poulsbo charr: I know all that, and thank you.

Bottom line: I've historically been given a great deal of latitude to speak my mind by Bob and the others, with the provision that I "try and keep the peace." I can't blame him or them, as unwanted emails and PM's are a pain in the ass. I currently have about 40 PM's sitting in my inbox and I've gotten into the habit of just hitting "shift/delete" on my email inbox in the morning. That said, I can't seem to "keep the peace" and be myself at the same time. Someone, anyone, (there's five of you in charge) has to step up and be responcible for calling the shots. Giving me enough rope to hang myself and then watching while I do it isn't working. You mods all know me, you all have my email address. The only thing I've ever asked is that "objectionable content" (where that line is I have no idea anymore) be deleted and I be notified privately.

Thrasher: Don't mistake need for care. I'm all or nothing and if I chose to make this my last post ever there are and people and personalities that I would miss interacting with.

Sol,

I have only been on this forum for about a month or so and have never met a single person on this site. Everybody here is just an avatar and an attitude in text to me. I only hope that i am the same to you. In that month I have only gathered that you smoke pot, fu%k your wife, toss out one liners, and have stress from this fishing tournament. You and I got into it once, and you have turned your nose straight up in the air to me. I'm not sure what you did in the past here but I would like to hear what you have to offer about fishing advice. So go smoke a bowl, catch a nice fish at the tourney and come back with a great big smile and all of this BS off your back. You sound like a smart intelectual man but right now you sound a little different.

Quoted from Sol:

"Moderation goes from Big-Daddy deleting multiple entire threads to Parker, Garcia, D-3 and Bob leaving comments I've made alone until the thread goes sideways and implodes in discontent. Where's the middle ground?"

Big Daddy's response:

I try to do the job that Bob asked me to do. That is cut down on the cursing, graphic sexual content and personel attacks on the main boards.

PM's, e-mails and phone calls concerning posts or threads are a pain.

I have noticed, lately, that the level of overall moderation on this sight has decreased. This allows the inmates to run the prision.

As for Sol's complaint that I delete or edit to many threads, tough.

As long as Sol and others continue to push the envelope in a negative manner, I will continue to edit, move and/or delete the posts or threads in a way that I feel improves the board. If I am doing a poor job, then I would expect Bob to let me know.

If Bob no longer wants me as a Mod/Admin, he can change it at any time.

The bottom line is that all the mods should be committed to try to clean up things that are inappropriate on the board.

Just my .02 worth.
