I'm getting to over due, have had a few fish in the upper teens but no true 20. Have hooked a few big ones that proceeded to beat my ass!! Will never forget those fish that you never see but can only imagine how big they are. Even back home in the great lakes I have yet to break 12lbs for steelhead. Just about everybody I know has had fish in the upper teens and even a few great lakes steel over the 20lb mark. Some people just have better luck, a friend of mine last year in one day got two steelhead in the mid teens and a 39 by 20in buck. So who knows!!

Rvrfshr? Ike? Broodbuster? Upper Flat? Any takers?

Fish on...

I've been stuck on 18 lbs for what seems like forever....last true 20 lbr was January 23, 2002......so yes, I would say I am due. I fear I may have buggered my "one chance every 5 years" at Ike last month while fishing with Brooder when I lost a fer sure 20+r ....

But I'm with Salmo on this one....it's the unpredictability that keeps my juices flowing. Like next month, when that next cast just might be that 20....or even a 30. ;\)

Never broken the 20lb barrier, but have come close a couple of times..Wouldn't say I'm due, just forever hopeful, least of all worthy of such a prize. By the way, Scooby's Doo!

I like your little poem Stam. I've never felt due to catch a big one, but I ALWAYS feel due to catch a fish. I've run across a couple this year that have made me sit down in the water and think for a bit (one of them I was even wearing waders)...
I would say that D3Smartie is due to land one this year!!!

I have one hanging on the wall at Swains in PA. Closest one to the center isle. But I caught it back in the old days(1993). I get as much kick getting to watch someone else get the fish. When it happens, its special. Now I'd like to see my boys get their big one.

He won't bonk it with me. I'd probably have to pay for the mount anyway so it would be my decision. I haven't even been able to get him out with me this year.

I'm way over due. If I don't get laid soon I might just....... Well, I'll just say that even my dogs are hiding in the corner.

As far as the fish are concerned I'm just looking for that next take. That's my favorite part of the sport. Playing a fish, tailing it and then the release is awesome. But the grab is what it's all about for me.

I asked over on ifish what a "trophy" springer was. Best I could deduce was a fish either 30+ or 40+ pounds.

I'd go with 30 pounds or higher. I'd say those are about as common as a 20 pound steelhead.

It's the 40 pound springers that boggle my mind. That's gotta be like getting a 30+ pound steelhead.

Dude, that a toad of a springer! Oof.
