This is to nominate the coolest taverns in WA. Places of unique character, establishments of historic note, general funkiness, all should be mentioned. For Starters, I'll nominate The Brooklyn Tavern, for it's running water snoose trough under the bar and remote location. Also The Olympic Club in Centralia for it's famous urinals and rich history. So if you know of a "must see" tavern post it here.

The Chesaw Tavern in Chesaw, WA until last year when new owners decided to clean it up a little. Still pretty cool tho. Chesaw, Wa pics

I can't believe you Bob, you took the words right out of my mouth. The "Chesaw Tavern". A little side note , years back I was barred from entering the tavern for the whole hunting season. Darn near ruined my hunting trip. Any of my $$$ still on the ceiling? I loved the "Tractor" seats.

Hey FIsh Whisperer, Sorry to say the tractor seats are gone along with all the $$ stapled to the ceiling. Its a great area of the state for eastern WA. Lots of history etc. Always go to Molson and fish Siddley Lake. You never been to a rodeo till you have been to the Chesaw Rodeo, just across the street from the tavern. The tavern and store have been there since about 1900. Another link to Chesaw

The best bar in the western hemisphere is located Jiggs Nevada near the Jarbridge Mountains. You get hammered and they put you in the "bunkhouse" to sleep it off, then make bloodie Marys in the A.M

I'm still looking for the perfect bar..............I can walk into it straight from the river still wearing my waders, it's okay to smoke a fine cigar, and the beer on tap is so cold it hurts your teeth. And last but not least, it's full of hot women.

And last but not least, it's full of hot women. Ponds bar at Island Park on the Henrys fork of the Snake fits this description to a tee. The hot chicks come from the fire crew stationed near there and its their hang out. ( I have had zero luck with them.. they are around 22-25 years old and view me as a probable pervert. I guess the tounge in fingers wag is not a good pick up move for that demographic )

It's a worth a try Stam, I can find the location and the beer. Stogies are no problem, but since you are on a roll with the ladies.........you're in charge of bringing in all the hot women!

My first thought was the Chesaw Tavern. I see I wasn't alone in that thinking. Had my first jug of "Mississippi Mud" there...and my last (Yuck!!!) Three Finger Jack's in Winthrop was cool...before it burnt and was rebuilt. And I'd have to throw Gustav's in there (Leavenworth). They have a mighty fine selection on tap

This is easy....Thee Carbonado Tavern. Stam's right............but you OP dudes have probably never been there. You'd have to be a toughass, Carbon-river-bull-trout-on-live-mice fishin', beer lovin' dude to stop in there. Funky little town................the wait staff is pretty friendly when they know "Body Man Stam" is in town....... ..........

Thats why I brought a woman with me when I started at WSU so I didn't have to take a sheep home. Those sheep are fun to drink with though. Besides I thought sheep were initiation material for frat boys anyway.

I've seen lots of cool Taverns on various fishing trips. Always gotta stop, out of curiosity and to see what the local flavor is all about. But hey, what about Bubba's on Hwy 2, Sultan. I hit it after fishin' or boarding. There is carpet in part of it, but it goes well with the 1970's recliners too. Haven't hit that place in awhile, gonna have to soon.

exchange tavern in spanaway oldest beer hall in tacoma Is that the one where they ask you to throw the peanut shells on the floor. I think I went there once when I was stationed at Ft. Lewis. I say I think because I was so damn drunk all I remember was people telling me that it was the oldest tavern in "bla bla" and "bla bla" and to put your peanut shells on the floor "bla bla burp" "here drink this".

I don't get out much......
In random order....
The Bluebird Inn in Bickleton. I believe that it is the oldest tavern in WA. Pool table is circa 1910 Brunswick.
The beer joint in Skamokowa...next to the fairgrounds....only tavern I know that's been raided by US Dept of Fish & Game & Federal Marshals...good story there!
The Sea Hag in Ilwaco....good shuffleboard
Whistling Oyster in Quilcene...great shuffleboard and local character
The irish joint in Gray's River
The MT Bar & Grill in Roosevelt
Huntington's Bar & Grill in Klickiatat...BEST steaks in the WORLD!
The Logs in BZ Corner
The Drake Room at the Duck Inn in Skamokowa...great Bloody Mary's
Bird Creek Inn in Glennwood during elk season
Shanahan's Irish Pub in Vancouver.....(the girls all love me there!)
Ariel Tavern in Ariel

Don't think it's still open but used to go to Ugly Eds in Raymond while working or fishing down there. Had to be the most warped floor in any place I ever went .Bar was glass covered with different $1 to $100 dollar bills under it . People put their names or kids names or whatever on them. Great burgers, or were we just not very picky?

The Winthrop brewery was always good to me. Three fingered Jacks was good to. Yes, until it burned. Sad day on the East side. There's some good people in that part of the state.

Speaking of the eastside...my favorite east or west is the Tamarack in Conconully. That's about as close as we can get to the wild west these days...seems something crazy happens every time I'm in there.
A local Seattle favorite was the old Frontier Room downtown. Easily the stiffest drinks anywhere, and the bartender / Ralph Machio look-alike was always worth a chuckle. Unfortunately now it's been yuppified.

The other night I was channel Surfing and as I passed Channel 3, there was some public access thing where they were in some real toilet of a bar somewhere. Turned out to be the Liberty Tavern in Bay City, WA. They had the owner in htere talking about all the old junk hanging from the ceiling and walls. Looked worth checking out. I used to go to The Frontier room back in days of grunge & punk. I took my wife there a couple years back saying "you gotta see this place!" and it was a bunch of pleather clad yuppies drinking espresso and smoothies. I about went postal.
