So I am sitting here at work with some down time and was pondering what I would really like to be doing for work. Some ideas that crossed my mind are the following: DJ at a strip club doing all the introductions and music selections, along with helping out choosing new talent for the joint. Second would involve being a writer for SNL or something of that genre. Maybe an HBO deal where I could write stuff that dropped F-Bombs and mention more adult situation material. Third would have to be some type of roadie/assistant position for a band I enjoy listening to and constantly being on the road. Having say a few months off per year on unenjoyment fishing.

Full-time field tester for Sage or Loomis.
I want to get paid to go fishing (not guiding). Logistics, boats, rigs, guides, services, etc. All covered.
Kinda like what Vedder does.
Crap, I really should become a legit outdoor writer.

The CEO of a major global corporation... just long enough to get my golden parachute bonus package of 50 million in cash and another 100 million in stock... which only seems to take about 2 or 3 years nowadays!
I'll buy everything I want or could dream of after that...

Like the CEO of Home Depot? He walked away from that job with what? $50 mil? And for doing what? Letting people stand in two lines for 30 minutes while 10 other checkout stands are closed. The guy is a genius.
Hey 4Salt, are you going up north to B.C. for some salmon this fall? Maybe we can twist Vedder's arm into buying us a round of Kokanee, eh?

If I didn’t already have a job I love (high school teacher) I would probably have to agree with parker. If it wasn't for the un-educated parents, and the oh my gosh don't hurt my feelings society we live in, I would teach until I die. Unfortunately, we have the “do no wrong kids” (according to some parents) that suck all the enjoyment of teaching out of me. I think that I can last another 3.5 days until school is out. If we could only go back to the day of having the paddle hanging over the desk, I would not be looking at a class full of kids that I am scared to death will destroy this country because they only care about themselves and nothing else around them. But, then again, I do love to teach, and impact as many young minds as I can. And what the hell, I get almost three months off and still get paid and get to fish in the mean time. Oh, and did I mention the 16 days I get off in December too.
I think that if I was offered to be Field Tester for Willie, Sage, or Loomis I might just like teaching a whole lot less.

I think I am living the dream. My ony regret is, it took 20 years to get there. (It fries my ass when I have someone tell me how "lucky" I am. I got here with hard work , a plan and determination. But now I pretty much fish anywhere I want anytime I want. My only complaint is not enough time, both in terms of months per year and years on the horizon.
As W.C. Fields said, "If I had known I would live this long, I would have taken better care of myself."

In OUR eyes you are one lucky SOB. Talented yah..... gifted with the prose.... (yah) but ultimately up to your editors....but lucky most certainly. I'd give both nuts (don't really need 'em anyway) to do what you do. Keep up the good work.

Well magician if you need, I'll carry you on my back down to the water. We can fish and have a great time. I'm not exactly open to any evangelical fundamentalist preachings, but the sight of a cross doesn't make me foam at the mouth and convulse either.
The load rating on my backside is about 160 pounds, and you'll need to make reservations because my boss rides it 3 days out of the week. Seriously, if you need some help drop me a line.

Magician: Not to worry...it isn't up to us anyway. You did your part to get the Word out...now be patient and let Him do the rest. IF it is going to happen, it won't be our doing...ya know?
BTW, come salmon season (early Oct) if you have the energy drop me a PM and we;ll find a way to get you down on our beach here. Good Coho and Chum right from the bank (when they are here, that is) and relatively easy access through private property.
Make it this year as next fall we will be living elsewhere.
I never concentrated on the "dream job", but moreso on a "dream LIFE".
Life for me does not revolve around work any more than I can tolerate (and that is very little). If I want to do something and can afford it, I do it...if not, I go make more $$ until I can do it.
I'm with Dave V though...I'm far too young to feel this damn old...and not enough time left to do all that I wanted to.
My "Dream Job" if I had it all to do over?
To be financially capable of retiring by age 30. A man does not appreciate life until he has done/seen some of the challenges it proposes...so 30 would be the youngest I would want to leave a workforce just to have sufficient life experience to enjoy the rest.
Mike

Thanks, you guys. I was able to get to the river on Wednesday. Just had to walk a little slower. Appreciate all your offers. I may print this page and get back to you later. Thanks for the encouragement. Does my heart good to know you guys are out there. I'm not a Bible thumper, but He's there. God bless you guys, Jeff. Good memories

SOMEONE PULLED MY POST .... and we thank him! let's try to keep it clean over here. Someone is doing that for free around here? Dang it, and I usually have to cook dinner to get someone to pull on mine.
