i've recently acquired about 50# of lead, but have no means to transform it into something useful. i'd be willing to part with half of it to someone with the equipment and know-how in exchange for the transformed product. i'd mostly be interested in pencil lead. i'd also consided trading the whole lot for something interesting. whatcha got??? also, i may be able to get more, too. the lead is in a couple of large hunks, so it may need to be dismantled into smaller pieces to make it easier to handle. let me know.

I can smelt it down for you, but pencil lead is extruded, not poured. I'm down south of you, and I have lots of 1lb ingot's, and I could make some for you if you wanted something smaller and easier to deal with. You would be well served to buy a small Lee melting pot once you have some ingots. These 1lb ingots fit into a Lee pot.

thanks for the offer, dogfish. i'm not really sure that i want to get into the whole thing. i certainly use the stuff up, but probably not enough to justify the investment. i hadn't thought about the extrusion factor-makes sense. i'm not sure what i'll do with it. i'll let you know.

I have a means of extruding the lead into solid lead wire. Sizes are .185". .205", & .250". It has to be pure lead or nearly pure to extrude. We might be able to work out a deal. How much are you able to get? Let me know

the lead is very pure, virgin lead. right now i've got 50#, i'll make a call and see if there's more around. is it worth it for 50#, or should i try and get more? the 50# i have is in 2 big chunks, as would be the rest (if I can get it) is that an issue?

Shouldnt be an issue. My melting pot is about 12-14" in diameter. I would have to melt it down into ingots then put it in my casting pot and pour it into billets for my extruder then extrude the wire. Just takes time. I am always looking for good pure lead so as much as you can get would be fine by me. How much wire are you looking for? How much lead can you get? I will do it for a portion of the lead If that works for you.

Thanks for the info. My lead fell thru. I will keep looking also. Wow, 75lbs of wire. Glad we got that new jack? If you need help with the lead and brew, let me know, I am thirsty too.
