well first of all i would send them back to danner and see if they can fix them... nothing like a good pair of boots and its tough to see good ones die. The boots i wear are Cabelas Master guide boots and they are $99. check them out.

i wear my danners 90% of the time in september when i am elk hunting so its not a big deal. i wanted a little warmer pair for later in the season.
i think im just gonna take mine to a repair shop by my house. but still a good idea to get a new pair i think.
i was looking at the ones you mentioned. how are they for waterproofing?

Danner Pronghorns.
They might be $10-15 more than you want to spend though.

I've got a pair of Danner Hood Mt. Lights and really like them, but they're a bit more spendy. Danner's stitched boots that are made in Portland like the Trophy, Grouse, etc., are all gonna be $200-300. But I don't think you can go wrong with the Pronghorns (molded sole, not stitched) for around $150. They're light, gore-tex, really comfortable, etc.

I was a die-hard Danners fan until I discovered White's insulated and Muck Boots. i want a pair of muck boots so bad. but i just cant get myself to buy them. im not a fan of that style boot. but i know they will serve their purpose perfectly. anyway i baught a new pair of danner pronghorns today. $179 at gi joes...went down to outdoor cause i get discount for being a member. and they were only $139...then on sale for only $119 plus member discount. talk about a big discount, im sure glad i held out for the extra %5 at OE then to find them that much less and on sale. IM STOKED!!! lol usually i just buy then find out they were cheaper. this time i was smart

Do it, you won't be dissapointed. I bought my dad a pair of Woody Max's for duck hunting and now he wears them for everything from elk hunting to steelheading all winter. Never has cold feet and says their the most comfortable boots he's ever worn.

best pair ive ever had are the cabelas outfitter series, 600gram insulation 12in high. i have never gotten wet with them things and have hiked 18miles in a day with them and my feet were fine. only cost 169 too, its alot i guess but way worth it
another good boot is irishsetter elk trakkers, my dad got a pair and so far have worked well for him, bout the same price

i looked at the elk trackers, but couldnt bring myself to paying the price for them.
i ended up with a good pair of boots though. if these pronghorns last as long as my danner kackals then i will be happy.

I have to double on the cabelas outfitter. I had a pair of danners and took them on a dall sheep hunt outside denali. Brand new at the time and after 50+ miles of walking(it was rugged country but come on) the boots had each ripped out on the inside seam. Brought them back and got a new pair after some serious time through sportsmans but my bro and buddy each had cabelas. Their boots held up great. Just my experience.

so far my pronghorns have been great. but hey my other danners were great for 2 years until i ripped a stiching. so it was expected that the pronghorns would be great as well.

my other danners never leaked or anything at all even when walking in marshy areas up to 6" deep...
