I'm taking the girls up for the Nutcracker this season, wondering if anyone's been. My questions are when are good times to go and what seats are best? Also what's the mode of dress for this thing? Suit-n-tie? Thanks. PM me if Ballet is not manly-man enough for you to publicly admit attending.

We go every three years or so. Definately dress up, at least to business casual. Formal even better. If you have young ones second level along the railing is best. I'd go any night you can get those seats so they have an unobstrcuted view. It isn't worth going if they can't see.

Yeah, you should dress appropriately. I'm thinking hawaii shirt, gold chain, cargo pants, and your greener birkenstocks. Fill the pockets on your cargo pants with candy for the show.
It is not inappropriate to boo, if one of the ballerinas makes a misstep. You paid for those tickets, you have the right to boo. Also, if there is a hot ballerina, I sometimes yell "Take it off!", don't do that if the program says they are under 18 though. That is just creepy.

I don't like the title. I'd wear a cup if I were you.

I was at a metal show a while back and this 7 year old kid was slamming into the adults. Brought a tear to my eye. The only good thing about ballet is if the chicks are hot and in a tutu. My avatar chick danced ballet for the nut....never mind I don't want to get banned.

Hate ballet and opera. Don't like large crowds of people that smell like a cosmetic counter at Macy's. Gives me a headache. I hear that....

I hate any type of ballet [censored]. Cant' stand it. ZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZ...........Those gay dancers with their giant Baryshnikov codpiece Siegfried-and-Roy-ball-sack-enhancers..............yuck. Sister Mary Frances made us go to that when I was a schoolboy......maybe 3rd grade....I got in trouble for throwing peanuts in the theatre but that was at some sh!tty low budget production in Portland. It sucked.

Haven't been to the PNB Nutcracker but my wife and I did see Cyrano de Bergerac. We dressed nice but no suit. The Nutcracker was a mommy daughter thing. I'd take my son steelheading instead. Used to spend quite a bit of time taking my daughter to ballet/dance and help out back stage setting up the local dance studio production. They were recruiting me to be Mother Marshmellow. Hey Sol they are always looking for male ballerinas for lead spots. You should get your daughters into dance class, if not for ballet, maybe just jazz dance. With all my wife's watching of Dancing with the Stars I think she'll want to take a ballroom dance class.

I've been twice, once in high school with a chic, once with the family. It ain't about going for you, it's about going for those who enjoy it. You can sit and daydream about fishing, fantasize about your chic and what you're gonna do when you get home, get a drink (wine) in intermission, and if you watch at all, it will get you in the Christmas mood, whether you want to be or not. There is somewhat of a dress code, I personally never adhere to dress codes, whether the Nutcracker, a wedding, fancy resturant, clubs, parties, they get me how I am.

Good report. My daughter (4 y.o.) will love it, I'm sure we'll be going in the next few years.
