There is nothing more I would like at this very moment then to catch someone breaking into my car. I could really use an opportunity like that to take out some of my frustrations. I think I would start in on him with a hammer, ball pin.

I hate to say it but shouldn't a person's wallet be safe in their car? Or should we just blame the dude who gets his wallet ripped off?
I don't think it's smart to leave valuables out but certainly feel that if we actually punished criminals maybe this sort of behavior would become less and less.

No, I'm just saying in this day and age, if you don't know about tweakers and other lowlifes that won't hesitate to take something of value from your vehicle, you may not be very bright. Personally (and this may just be me) if I value something (wallet, fishing gear, hunting gear, etc,) it doesn't get left in the truck, maybe I'm just paranoid.

Perfectly rational. It just pisses me off that we have to worry about these low lifes. Puplic caneing these punks in front of their friends might be a bit more of a deterrent rather than a slap on the wrist.

I don't think caning would do it. Something closer to a near-death experience to really get their attention. They already are killing themselves and don't care. No, I think the only solution is tossing chlorine into the gene pool. Unfortunately, if anyone ever does the right thing and just shoots one or two of them in the act... then wham!! who's the bad guy now? Is it the tweaker lowlife scum? But noooooo! *! Oh man, I think I just crapped myself.

I lived in PA about 5 years ago, (for 1 year) I had the slider window pried open on my truck (luckily they found nothing of value) and my next door neighbor had her car stolen, yeah, I felt much saver there.

Fortunately, I know damn near everyone in this town, and those that dont know me, know of me, and leave my sh.it alone... Knock on wood, but over the last 10 years, I've yet to have anything broken into... And I've always had expensive stereos, that everyone knew about, and could have easily been broken into and stolen... I do my part to not piss people off around here... it's worked for me

We had a guy casing our place last week. At 8:30 at night, he was at the bottom of our driveway in his pickup. We went outside to have a smoke and saw his lights. Hubby went down there and asked the guy what he was doing and he said he was looking at property... Uh-huh... At night... pitch black, in the middle of no where, and no other homes nearby and not a single for sale sign. The property he was interested in was anything of value that WE owned. He won't be coming around here again. Any chance that his pick-up is for sale or did you just bury it in a hole?

"I'll be sure to call ahead if I ever come out your way. " Good move, Salmo... Community watch is good...I had a neighbor call the cops on me when I was sitting out in front of my house in my van at about 11 at night with the lights out and the motor running... I was new to the neighborhood so they didn't recognize my van in the dark, and since I can't get cell reception worth a crap in my house, I had to finish my phone conversation that I was having out in the street before driving the 200 feet down my driveway. Hell, I'd'a called the cops on me, too, if'n I saw me in my van sitting outside somebody's house in the middle of the night with the motor running...they don't call it the Murder Van for nuthin'! Fish on... Todd

Just install an IR camera that watches your driveway. Set it up right and have it record everything. It will work in total darkness and daylight. Cheaper than you think too!

Cheaper than you think too! yep but the clarity is iffy at best unless there is a motion activated facial recon unit also that has enough light to get a good shot otherwise you just see a somebody move across the screen instead of going shiat, thats billy bob, aunty m's cousin

Clarity isn't an issue, unless you are trying to prosecute from the film alone. What the hell is a motion activated facial recon unit BTW? You work for the Feds or something? You don't need light with a decent IR illuminator camera......that's what IR is for.

It's a little deja vu, you posting on a tweaker thread, don't you think? Thats some funny chiat right there. I found the recommendation on the IR camera pretty funny too. Wouldn't be able to recognize the perp unless he had his pet rooster with him.
