Any of you go out and pick edible one's that are good for cooking? No not liberty caps. You live in the perfect spot for shrooms.

I pick lots of chantrelles. Don't know the other types well enough to be safe, but I really enjoy trying to figure out what I've found!

Some great books out there, plus there's a forum called Cascade Mycological society. There are some people on there that have forgotten more then i will ever know about shrooms. If you post pictures they will be able to tell you what it is, well as sure as you can be from a picture. Most of the people that post are from Corvallis or Eugene, nice group of people.

I mostly hunt chanterrels, morels, king boletes, matsutakes and Oregon white truffles

Lots of chanterelles in the second growth forests around Quillicene. Not un common to pick 40 pounds per person on a good day.

On the advice of a fellow board member I picked up a couple books by David Arora, "all that the rain promises and more...." and "mushrooms demystified". They are really great books and have just about anything you would want to know about shrooming. Lots of pictures to keep it easy for people like me

I have some Chantrelles in my backyard. As far as the "fun" kind go, I doubt I'll ever touch those again as long as I live.
