Troutfitters up at Hope has a wall of pictures of Huge Kenai rainbows,I use to go up there in late September and boondog puff balls with flyrods on my way home from summer guiding and it was always unbelievable 5 to 20 pound trout all day long and was always fun to watch the kenia kings doing their last dance seemed a fitting way to end the summer and talk about have the river to your self!!!PEACE

Just thought I'd stop and clear a few things up about this fish since some of you are concerned about its fate. THe fish was 35 x 24 1/4 inches and caught on the Kenai River. It was released within 30 seconds of being landed and the angler's feet are in the water. It took off like a bullet and I would guess it had a low mortality rate.

In a nutshell, regulations on the Kenai stipulate that you may not remove a bow from the river from May 1st till June 15th.

WOW! Nearly 5 x 7 dimensions... tremendous girth as evidenced by the pic.

Thanks for clarifying the circumstaces of the release and the fish's favorable fate.

That works out to 26+ lbs!! What a TOAD, glad it was able to swim off strong as those river rainbows can live 20+ years. Any idea of the age of that fish??.......C/22 :p
