My polling place was under water so I called the voting hotline and got to cast a provisional ballot at another location.

I still like going to the polls, maybe next time I will go absentee, either way I would have to be dead not to vote (well, even then I may get to vote).

Ditto to what Todd and Big Daddy Said. I just hope we see a return to some civility in Washington.

I am not suprised about who commented here. It would be interesting to see how many people who visited this site since election day, one participated in this poll, and 2 actually voted...... Im guessing we would find less than 30%. I think a get out the vote drive would be helpful. We have a few deep thinkers here and they could not only convey their message and get people participate, just think of the change that might occur.... Tuesday was a historic day in the voting process and to think it was decided by so few..

Big Daddy,
I stay out of politics on this board becaues of the name calling and such.
I am a total moderate.
There are good and bad people of both major parties.
It took some growing up on my part to understand that.
The locksteppers drive me nuts.
They are tools for the most part.
Moderates like myself get screwed by the radical fringes of both parties.
Yes, I voted.

The wide divide is due to the media imho.. There is no story to tell when people get along and discuss the issues. The issues are way to complicated to describe in a news cast or paper article, and if the media tried, who would actually take the time to read it? The politicians need media exposure to gain the name and face recognition, that helps them to win elections..... Many of us learn about politics from the media.
It's a vicious cycle that leads to ignorance and bull headedness on the issues. We see things in only in black and white.
Sad.....
It's a fine day to be a democrat though!

I voted...and gave an unbiased explanation of the initiatives, propositions, and candidate statements to six of my family members after dinner last Thursday night. I love all voters...but, I love informed voters more!!! Too many people now-a-days are voting armed only with the info from the mud-slinging commercials. Makes me feel proud to add value and to do my part.

Voted at the polls with my head high, chest out, and not worried about a suicide bomber coming in.

nope didnt vote. Probably never will. my one vote no matter how adamant, no matter how much i piss and moan about bush or anything else political, no matter how red my face gets about fish and wildlife and how its managed, my one solitary vote doesnt mean sh** to this country. theres other ppl fighting for what i believe in and will argue with everyone about there beliefs and how things should be. But until money isnt a big deal in this country, sh**s gonna always be what the ppl with money want it to be. If you have enough re-counts someone will run out of money and lose no matter how shady the voting counts get, or how stupid the ppl getting voted for are!! its just not worth my time to follow all the bullhonky and political garbage that just stresses me out about crap I have no control over whatsoever. Its all who has the most money, the best commercial slandering the other opponent. UHHHHHHHH why not talk about what you can do for the ppl not how bad the other persion is going to do!! so irritationg. I can already feel my blood pressure rising. Its all very stupid. I am sorry if this offends someone, or a lot of ppl, but honestly in the last 10 years or so i have come across about 2 ppl I would even consider voting for. and they never got elected for anything : ) So I fish, smile and know that God controls it all and one day no matter who I vote for , everything will be done anyway. so i live my life the best that i can and let other ppl's blood pressure rise at the mere mention of Bush, or anything political. much better things in my life to focus on. Like helping others and myself better ourselves.

Merganrroider,

Count me as one of the offended.

Along with the uninformed who vote for whatever they saw in the last TV commercial and believe whatever they read in the smear campaigns, you non-voters get the government you deserve. My gripe is that I get it too.

Knowing that 'God controls it' is the first step down a slippery path that leads to a place where I don't want to live.

Sigh. well you know you can only do so much. the problem is that the media ( whoever has the most money, hear it again) controls much of who votes for who nowadays. for instance. for all the vegetables that make it their daily routine ( my parents, grandparents, and everyone else I know) to watch all the garbage on the TV, its their life! and the media influences them whether they want it to or not. Think about where you shop , what you drink, the cars you drive. and think about how many commercials you have seen abou them. its called .....gosh cant think of the word right now...but its wear you just keep repeating the same thing over and over and over again. eventually in the consumers mind whenever they think about a certain thing your product comes to mind because you have seen it so many times that you associate ..like Coors light when you think of beer. or Ikea when you think of furniture. its a media ploy. well combine that with elections and it makes for a media winning election. thats why elections are so different nowadays and things are so close nowadays. do your research and look at the history of elections. notice the leaders we used to have. Lincoln, Roosevelt, Reagan ( hahahah just seein if your payin attention, that was a joke) you know how they got elected??? some propoganda and newspaper distribution, yes. but mostly because ppl heard them and they were mesmerized by them,by what they said and what they said they could deliver for this country. then how they acted and delivered their promises for this country.these ppl left marks on history in such a manner that we will teach about it until our civilization comes to an end ( in about 10 years the things are going : ) ) unlike todays so called leaders who are known for their sex scandals and commercials. not by the sheer force of their character. the small voice called "the people" by which this country was founded on had been slowly choked to silence. Have any of you ever seen Vendetta???? the movie that just came out starring Yugo weaving?? If you havent, go watch it and you will see where our country is headed. so I stay away from it all. i dont watch TV. It truly will warp you. trust me. Go fishing or read a book. way better for your mind any how. Oh dont worry i dont complain about the government at all. i dont have enough money to have an opinion at all about any of that smile its all gonna do what its gonna do so how can i complain? its like complaining to God about sin! its just gonna be there..period. and no one can do anything about it. instead when your bllod starts to boil becAUSE SOME NINCOMPOOP mentioned bush and the war....walk outside....thank god you have 2 legs to walk your ass to your TV, walk around the block and make a difference in your community before you start tootin your horn about how i should vote. my vote does nothing for my community. but my actions will. you wanna gripe about voting but you dont recycle, or carpool to work, or give half your sandwhich to Blind Bob on the corner worried where his next meal is coming from, not the current president. or how about picking up other fishermans trash on the river? God forbid i dont vote, but i will be the first person to stop and give some poor kid a ride who is walking home in the pouring rain. i will be the first person to open the door for someone else before me. So the next time you want to point fingers and get offended remember what jesus said

" Let he who be with out sin cast the first stone"

I voted my wife is an elected official. Without her income I would not get to buy as much fishing gear as I do nor would I get to go on as many fishing trips. So you can see one of my big motivations for voting is fishing. Kind of funny huh.
