First they need to find the financing for the 2.5 billion cost.
Have you seen their financials lately? You're not going to claim they can't find anyone to write the paper on a 2.5B loan, are you?
Then they have to jump through all of the environmental hoops including hiring biologists to ensure a type of lizard won't be harmed.
And your problem with that is what? So say ACME oil wanted to build a refinery in My Vernon and discharge chemicals into the Skagit that would wipe out salmon and steelhead. No biggie.......they're just a type of fish we shouldn't worry about impacting, right?
My guess would be there won't be any more built.
That's my guess, too. But it's because there is no reason for an oil company to build one. None. Yet, Big Oil will continue to blather about oil prices rising because of a lack of refining capacity brought on by environmental do-gooders who care more about a type of lizard than cheap gas..........and they do so because apparently, somebody buys that line of bullsh!t.
What interest does an oil company have in building a refinery? Do you think they care that gas is at 3.40/gallon or whatever? Nope. They care that they've been posting record profits for years running now.
And apparently, you're going to apologize for them and tell us how really it's all about the enviros preventing Big Oil from cranking up new refineries and supplying us all with plentiful, cheaper fuel. I'm not buying what you're peddling, Hankster, but I don't hate Big Oil, either. They're just doing what corporations do, maximizing shareholder profits. I don't fault them for that. I fault them for their mealymouthed "excuses" for why gas costs so much. It costs so much because there's a limited supply, a limited quantity supplied, and folks just lining up to buy it. Environmentalists and environmental regulations don't have a thing to do with it.
