Here's what I don't understand about hockey...........two opponents face off in a fight, they are standing on a slick, hard surface and the bottom of their shoes have razor-sharp steel blades on them. They rip off their gloves and helmets and the refs and teammates watch as they grab each other and bust each other's face open.
But in football.......two guys face off wearing full pads, helmets, facemasks and are standing on soft grass......don't let them fight!
Best fight in sports..........baseball. Bench clearing, everyone's involved, no protective gear..........get it on.

It is hard to appreciate hockey untill you go to a few games. The speed is amazing, the hits are massive, and the atmosphere is excellent.

....i wish they had more of those benches clearing soccer brawls.... Maybe if you watched soccer you would have a clue as to how intense some of those players get and how often they fight...Tune into it sometime, MLS doesn't count... Wish fans out here (for any sport) were as passionate here as they are in big Soccer countries...They get way more into it. S**t, even their fans brawl versus the opposing teams in the stadium.

Soccer brawls are killer... The first guy fakes a punch at the second guy, who then throws himself on the ground and holds his knee, crying like a baby. The guy who threw the fake punch then throws himself on the ground, and holds his knee, too...all the while screaming like a banshee. Repeat until all the players are laying on the ground holding their knees and crying like babies. Cut to fans stabbing each other with broken beer bottles. Yeah...soccer brawls are the best.

http://www.compfused.com/directlink/1233/Might wanna mute the crappy soundtrack... I played soccer for 12 years. I broke one guy's ankle and crushed another guys hand. I got my bell rung and the wind knocked out of me more times than I remember. My kid brother shattered his arm. Soccer's also the only sport that's sparked a war... 1969 Honduras vs El Salvador Honduras dead: 1200 (est). El Salvador dead: 700 (est). Final soccer score: El Salvador 3/2

Who hijacked the hockey topic with a girls game like soccer just kidding.... But soccer doesn't even come close when it comes to excitement ,speed ,finesse ,hits and scoring. Hockey is great game even without the fights.Look at Olympic hockey you never see them fighting there.

I'm not a passionate soccer fan by any means. I'm a huge UW fan, and my only real allegiance to soccer is the fact that I played it for many years... Rivalries in soccer countries make the UW WSU rivalry look weak.

Hockey just isnt part of the culture out here in the west. I grew up in Michigan and there is a night and day difference in the hockey culture out here. I was in shock the first time I saw that the local news casts did not even mention that the Stanley Cup FINALS were even being played let alone who was winning. ESPN only kind of thing.

Hockey just isnt part of the culture out here in the west. So true. I think Dan Devone on FOX gets in a highlight or two each week just to piss off the local network folks, but that's it. I'm looking forward to the Thunderbirds move to Kent. Thinking about getting partial season tickets if they are available. I'm a college hockey fan also. Not much to cheer or jeer around here either. I think Denver, Colorado College and North Dakota are the closest NCAA programs.

i hope Dallas can finish SJ. I also want the Rangers to go down because I have a buddy who loves NY teams. Giants and Rangers as champions means he's an asshole for a year...

WOW.... agree This hit took Michalek out for the rest of the game at the end of period 3 http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=P-Q9_u0FJDMThe guy that nailed him-Morrow-got the game winning goal in the 4th OT it went 4 OT's--that is 2 games plus =no rest----Hockey Playoffs rule. Now down to 4 teams-this will be interesting Dallas vs. Detroit Penguins vs. Philly Fuggen A

Dallas is in trouble if their defense doesn't pick it up. They were not passing well, and a team like Detroit is going to get a lot of odd man rushes if Dallas is loose with the puck.
In the Eastern Conference, Pittsburgh is more fun to watch than Philly.
GO WINGS!
