This sucks. My son (26yrs) has an apartment in the parkland area. A month ago his truck, 1991 S10, was stolen. Out of his parking lot as he slept. The cop told him "no problem we'll find it in 24 to 48 hrs.. We found 6 this weekend."

the cop had him sign an agreement to have it towed when found, BIG mistake. Two and a half weeks went by and the boy bought a new used car. Ten more days pass and he gets a call from Burns Towing telling him he's got 24 hrs to come get the truck and he owes them $184 and $40/day after that.

He got to his truck and was able to claim some personal stuff, which was good. Dashboard and column were pretty destroyed and he would need to have it towed to get it off the lot. Which was bad. Sad thing is that he learned that the truck had been sitting in the street, in a Tacoma neighborhood, for two weeks!

Wouldn't one think that the cops would give the boy a call before the towing co..?

It was a tough life lesson for the kid. And yet so wrong in that he is out his truck, his stuff, $185, and trust in the fuzz. And the thief? Well ..........

I was parked down in Janzen Beach Mall parking lot a couple years back I come out of the store to see a Tow truck lifting up my BRAND NEW F-250. I come at the guy demanding to know WTF he thinks he''s doing. He say Im illegally parked. I ask how he figures. He says I'm double parked. I say like hell he better drop my truck that moment. He set it down and as he's getting in his truck to drive off he shouts "I still could have charged you!" and splits.

I look down to see his definition of illegally parked. My back tire was touching the white line.

He's lucky I didnt pop a cap in his ass I was so infuriated.

There're tow companies that will charge you "impound fees" of upwards $100 per day.

I had a car impounded by South Sound Towing about 10 years ago. I called on Monday and asked how much I owed for fees and he says $600. So The next day I come down with the money and he says it now comes to $780. I aask what for and he says for the additional day of fees.

Never ever call for a tow unless you have AAA.

100 bucks to get my truck back would have been a bargain to get my truck back when it was towed from my old apartment. i got set to go to the store one day,walk outside and my truck is gone. there was a daycare and apparently i had parked in one of their spots since mine was taken(the F-wad living next door had 4 cars).

called the towing company, and it was in an impound lot on the west side of olympia!(my apartment was in lacey). according to the used-up skank at the front desk, it had been there 2 hours, but they were willing to "cut me a deal" by letting me get it back for $250. F*$#ing crooks.

Yeah but, these guys were threatening my boy with a $250 fine under some abandoned vehicle law. IT WAS FRICKEN STOLEN!! And he was made to feel guilty .

Now the towing outfit will make another few hundred at the auction. I wonder if the cop will be making a bid
