I was with my 12 yr. old Granddaughter at a music store in B'ham. She was up from Texas for a few days. I asked her if she wanted a new cd and she said she really didn't like too much of the stuff she hears on the radio and what her friend's like but she'd look around. She came back with a ZZ Top "Best of" compilation and told me this was her favorite group and she hoped it was ok. OK! Heck yea! - especially considering the radio wasteland that is out of the airwaves today and the dreck that passes for contemporary kid's music.

Maybe the future of music is not so bleak after all if 12 yr. old kids like ZZ Top.

My 12 year old like AC/DC, Jimi Hendrix, Aerosmith, and a number of other classic bands, plus all of the current rock, but no hip-hop crap or goat rope (country).

I hope that "Best of" doesn't include "Tube Snake Boogie" or "Pearl Necklace" or "Tush" or "Sleeping Bag" or.....

You'll have some splainin' to do to that 12 year old granddaughter!

It's all Hannah Montana and High School Musical for mine.

I thought about the "Pearl Necklace" question and decided I'll just tell her to ask her Grandma because I know she knows.

I did think about the tunes but I was happy the cd wasn't Britney or some of the other mindless, no-talent scrubs that depend on pitch correction softwear to put out a tune, I figuered at least there's some decent guitar work and that trumps all.

It is encouraging that she's not into Hannah or some other pop drivel.
