The lower Hoh Store gravel bar was in pretty good shape before the high water as well. Might be another option. They might be less uptight about extra-curricular activities than the DNR.

I think your derby is a great idea. But as an FYI, are you aware that a permit is needed for a fishing contest/derby for game fish (i.e., steelhead)? See page 19 of the fishing pamphlet or the following link:

Pretty much all the permits take, unless the requirements have changed, is someone to be responsible, pay a small fee, and get at it...anyone want to be the responsible party in this crowd?

I think that a spot on private land where we can get permission would be better than DNR land...that comes with its own set of regulations, not to mention penalties for f'n 'em up...

I shopped some ideas out to an artist friend of mine and here's what I just got back. Pretty damn cool, man. I see a couple of improvements that need to be made, but we're getting close to a finish product I think. Not sure on shirt colors yet but rest assured they will be awesome.
