Does anyone know what the largest Steelhead to ever come out of the Skykomish River is?
With today’s catch and release of natives, a picture and guess-timate of the weight is about the only documentation available for these fish.

This 1959 Fishing & Hunting News article shows a 24 pound 6 ounce monster.

My ex-neighbor had that same or 2 oz heavier on his wall caught in the Sky in 1988-89, but we hear of 27's ever Febuary. My only 20+ came from Sky,
it has some BIG fish.

Do I hear 28, 28, 28.....
Do I hear 27 - 8 ?

I can up the anti to 43.5X24 that goes low 30's even with the conservative formula. Pics and mount of it too.

Interesting question. During the 1960s and 1970s as well during the 1980s creel surveys when wild fish could be kept the largest fish that I could document from the Snohomish system were fish between 25 and 26 pounds. Know several very good steelhead fisherment that fished the system from 1950s into the early 1980s that never broke 20#s.

However as ondarvr post indicates with CnR and WSR larger fish (over 25#)were much more common from the mid-1980s on. Better fishermen, better management or??

A few years ago Eli Rico landed a fish ove 30lbs I believe on the Sky, I also know another guy who landed one near 30 with no pic. The biggest I have seen in person was the fish 4Salt landed last year about 22, biggest fish ever to my boat.

This fish was caught in February 2005: three different C&R formulas put it between 29.4and 31.3 pounds.

I beg to differ, Fish4: that fish is all of 30-plus. Hard to tell from that particular photo angle, but there's another photo where you can clearly see the girthiness of Rico's fish. I superimposed it over a photo of a 28-pound fish caught in a tribal net and weighed, and it's girthier.
