3 years ago this was a bad spot at low water as well. I can identify with the guy who you said rowed it friday and dumped his boat saturday. We had a close call 3 years ago when one day it was easy to navigate and the next day after the river dropped about 6 inches the river would suck you right into the logs and there was'nt enough water on the right side to dig with the oar. When in doubt walk the boat around. Good Luck-TBJ

Trick is to bang in right, when at the top she looks like you should follow the water, as we've heard, definetly not the case, when unsure, walk er out.Nice to here of some fishys. Sorry a little late on this one, been a long stretch.

Their is another bad spot just below Nolan Bar, it is a similar scenario. The trick with these spots as the Sensei said, is to stay hard right and bang your way down the shallows. This helps slow the boat down, so you can manuever around the jam. Common sense trumps all, walk it around if it does not look right.

He's still shaking and happy to be alive. Just talked to him this afternoon and saw pics of the salvage operation. They did well Thursday and Friday on some big Kings and Coho. Called us up on his cell phone late last week to give us updates. Thanks for helping them out with the boat.
