I have the older model (18 months of hard use), works great has been wet, but not submerged. Still works great. Is only water resistant when all the ports have their covers on. The new ones look pretty much the same (I have one sitting on my desk).

I have the GZ1 Drake has the boulder. They seem to be bullet proof. I am way hard on phones and do about 2100 min a month. I look forward to killing mine so I can get the boulder.

Ive had all 3 GZ one's. If I still had a working older one, I wouldnt be in a hurry to get the Boulder. The battery life is about half of the second gen GZ one and people complain that they can't hear me talking unless I'm holding it just right. On the upside, the speaker is way better on the Boulder and it is smaller and lighter than either of the earlier phones The electronic compass is 'over the top' cool.

I dropped mine in a 3 foot deep puddle while it was ringing, picked it up and answered the call, That almost qualifies it as a pond. :p

Speaking of texting.....what the f is up with that? I hate texting....especially on that phone. You'd think all my buds were 13 year old japanese girls with the amt of texts I get. Just dial the number folks! yeah Dave, texting is stupid. some one has actually created an app that will convert text to speech for some phones, which begs the question, why didn't anyone just call and talk in the first place? our foster daughter averages about 1,500 a month, which isn't too bad compared to some kids, but we make her turn the phone off at the dinner table (trying to teach her some manners). think i'll send you a text on my lunch break.....
