But the "Office of the President-Elect," while critical in building the future government, has no official power -- which Obama himself acknowledged during his victory speech in Chicago on Election Night.
"It is an office -- it's just a quasi-government office for planning the takeover of the government," said Stephen J. Wayne, a professor at Georgetown University's department of government.
"Obama has no formal power as far as the existing government is concerned, but he has a lot of informal influence, which President Bush has encouraged," he added.
What was the question?

It's so that the other 79% of the country who knows what an absolute disaster BushCorp has been can feel some sense of change and optomism, rather than reminding us that even with the election over there is plenty of time for BushCorp to foul things up even more.

Amen Hankster! Obama's gonna save us all! I quit my jobs and am waiting for my share of the wealth. He's gonna divide the wealth so none of us will have to worry about how to pay for our homes, cars, or any bills. In about a week you will receive a check in the mail for $250,000. This is a stimulous package that will be given to all people who make less than $50,000 a year. I just saw this on CNN. It was knida weird though, the reporter looked like Dave Shapel with a wig,

In fact, he recently said he will put off, for at least a year, reinstating the Reagan era tax rates on the wealthy. But, if you took the total bailout dollars spent and proposed - by both Democrats and republicans you will get well over $100,000 for every household in America. How are you planning to pay that? If you want to see socialism in action look at the current bailout payments which give companies our tax dollars in exchange for a share of the company. That is pure socialism. Brought to you by GWB who very likely can’t spell socialism let alone define it.

Let us not forget either that the current bailouts have the full faith and blessing of the POTUSE and his economic advisers. I am sure though that if there are any items that need changing, they will be done shortly after Jan. 20.
Obama is not my main concern at this point. What concerns me most is what Pelosi/Reid have in mind. The original 700 BILLION got an additional 110 BILLION in pure pork added.
Concessions will be made by both parties but in the long run this is going to cost us taxpayers TRILLIONS. Hank: I know its mind boggling but the numbers they are tossing around are Trillions, not Billions. While the resolution of this mess will be left to Obama, let us not forget whose watch it occurred on. Bush spent like a drunken sailor, and then ended his fiscal orgy with a 700 Trillion handout his corporate buddies who proved to be as incompetent as his administration. (Now that really was welfare!) I don't really know what Bush was, but it sure as hell was not a fiscally responsible Republican. It's too early for us to know what Obama will be, but it would be hard to imagine he could be any worse. The big difference is Bush took office with a balanced budget, a large surplus and a nation respected by the world. Obama takes office with two wars, a huge deficit that is growing by the minute, an economic crisis unmatched since the great depression and seriously damaged international relationships. We need to be supporting our president in a time of crisis. Anything less is unpatriotic. Sure criticize when he screws up, as he surely will, but for God’s sake we need to be as supportive as possible in these troubled times.

Wait about a year and see how many people are out of work. this country/government cant opperate without money. You DO realize that all of our problems a year from now all have stemmed from the Bush Administration and the "legacy" he left us (and you). Anyone unemployed in a year can than GW. Not like GW will care, as he's a fat-cat millionaire sitting in his Texas ranch laughing all the way to the bank with Cheney. Too damn funny.

Hank: You remind me of one of my best friends who is a very conservative republican. You are able to hold a discussion that involves actual thinking and no name calling. I enjoy give and take with you. Some, as you say, simply rely on grade school name calling. They are not worth wasting time talking to. As you say there is plenty of blame to go around. Anyone who thinks this is mess is all Bush's fault or that Obama's election will somehow doom us all, simply isn't thinking.
Have great Turkey Day.

Here's an article from 1999 before GW was president that pretty much forcasted what would happen if the economy slowed. From New York Times Article "In moving, even tentatively, into this new area of lending, Fannie Mae is taking on significantly more risk, which may not pose any difficulties during flush economic times. But the government-subsidized corporation may run into trouble in an economic downturn, prompting a government rescue similar to that of the savings and loan industry in the 1980's" Read more New York Times Article 1999

Evindently you are mistaken too. Didn't you hear Parker tell us that it is all the Bush Administration's problem. Quoted by Parker You DO realize that all of our problems a year from now all have stemmed from the Bush Administration and the "legacy" he left us (and you).

I thinkl Obama needs to convene a bipartisan panel to investiget exactly what went wrong. I really don't too much care who is found to blame. I think Dems had a hand as did Repubs. So be it. Let's find out what happened and do what ever it takes to keep it from happening again. I do know Clinton was an advocate for more loans to low income families. I know Bush was fully supportive of that and the Phil Graham pushed hard for less regulation. Plenty of blame. Now what's the solution?

I think the thing that annoys me most about the present situation is the adamant claims of some that, "It ain't my fault." While I certainly will agree, if the ones so claiming are also the ones who have been financially responsible, but I believe it is painfully obvious that such is not the case. It is to these people I ask, "How's your "look good" doing now?" What we will all now witness, and which is at least partially to blame for your teachings in irresponsibility, will be higher crime rates, higher suicide rates, higher divorce rates, and on and on. And there is no way to stop it. Sweet. Does anyone think that those who have spent and continue to spend beyond their ability to pay are now suddenly going to be willing to be responsible for their indebtedness? They have grown accustomed to living that way and will NOT be willing to do without in order to pay off the debts they have incurred. They will walk away and leave the mess to be cleaned up by others.....like a hurricane with fresh ground in front and disaster behind and no way to stop it. The Brick Wall prediction was not a prediction.....neither is the wall we are headed at right now.......they're just facts. Bury your head in the sand and pretend it ain't happening.....go ahead....won't change a thing. But at least try to find something more substantial to blame your woes on than Bush.....that's just plain
