You sound similar to liberals that listen to Rush. Are you trying to get worked up? You are the one "listening to the Obamanite". Change your source. And half of Tatonka's post are on this thread... and this is a fishing board. Maybe it is a fishing board, but this IS the dark side...life BEYOND fishing.

Election's are over..... Time to put differences aside, and support Obama. That's until 2012, Sarah Palin! Mf

Yankees payroll is not taxpayer funded, whereas the bulk of that 170 mil IS taxpayer funded. Don't give a rat's azz about the Yankees..Just saying those dollars could be put to better use rather than inflating Obama's aready close to exploding ego. Actually, all four major sports leagues are subsidized due to corporate welfare tax breaks. They are allowed to claim approximately $1 billion in tax breaks against $600 million in expenses. I don't have the article in front of me, but you get the idea - you can verify the level of rape at your liesure My favorite muckraking magazine Mother Jones has an entire issue devoted to the world ahead and corporate welfare is one of many topics.

Can anyone tell me how much it cost for the last 2 inaugurations? Now we really got our moneys worth there. How much of an increase for this one compared to the others? Maybe now the GOP and Rush will quit blaming everything on the Clintons, but I doubt it.

The only constant thing in this country is change. That goes for us as individuals, as well as the entire world and Universe. Nothing stays the same. We are born, get married, have children, lose a spouse or love one's then we get sick and eventually die. Same for the entire world and Universe. Change is a certainty. The change that we influence is the change that I'm concerned with the rest i am powerless over. Can I make a difference and try to direct change in a more life affirming and positive direction that reduces suffering in this world. That is my concern regarding change and I hope that it remains a theme for President Obama's as well.

$750 millionj raised to win the election. And the job pays what.... ?500k/year. Makes you wonder.
I think he'll do a good job but it's pretty ridiculous the amount of money spent to win any office these days.

In a few short days, an African American man will move from his private residence into a much larger and infinitely more expensive one owned not by him but by the taxpayers. A vast lawn, a perimeter fence and many well trained security specialists will insulate him from the rest of us but the mere fact that this man will be residing in this house should make us all stop and count or blessings - because it proves that we live in a nation where anything is possible. Many believed this day would never come. Most of us hoped and prayed that it would, but few of us actually believed we would live to see it. Racism is an ugly thing in all of it's forms and there is little doubt that if this man had moved into this house fifteen years ago, there would have been a great outcry - possibly even rioting in the streets. Today, we can all be both grateful and proud that no such mayhem will take place when this man takes up residency in this house. This man, moving into this house at this time in our nation's history is much more than a simple change of addresses for him - it is proof of a change in our attitude as a nation. It is an amends of sorts - the righting of a great wrong. It is a symbol of our growth, and of our willingness to "judge a man, not by the color of his skin but by the content of his character". There can be little doubt now that the vast majority of us truly believe that this man has earned both his place in history and his new address. His time in this house will not be easy - it will be fraught with danger and he will face many challenges. I am sure there will be many times when he asks himself how in the world he ended up here and like all who have gone before him, the experience will age him greatly. But I for one will not waste an ounce of worry for his sake - because in every way a man can, he asked for this. His whole life for the past fifteen years appears to have been inexorably leading this man toward this house. It is highly probable that in the past, despite all of his actions, racism would have kept this man out of this house. Today, I thank the lord above that I am an American and that I live in a nation where wrongs are righted, where justice matters and where truly anything is possible. Who is this man? you ask. You think you know, don't you? Look below

Have Washington taxpayers paid off "Corporate Logo/$15 beer Field" yet? Okay, looked up the article this morning and here are the correct stats: MLB, NHL, NBA, NFL have combined profits of $1.6 billion (according to Forbes) and receive $2 billion in subsidies! This was before the mayor and Uncle Sam gave the Yankees $865 million!!! In 2006, the guy that bought the Washington Nationals for approx. $485 million will get $1 billion in subsidies over the next two decades. I guess the $15 beer is intended to get fans to "drink responsibly"... This doesn't even touch the tip of the iceberg with corporate welfare. Is anyone else out there feeling raped yet? We Americans deserve relief from unequal taxation, it is truly criminal what has happened to our economy, and consequently, our standard of living. Unfortunately, this is still the best place in the world to live.
