Rarely has the Dow Jones Industrial Average gained or lost more than one percent during Inauguration Day trading in the last 80 years. In only five sessions has the Dow moved more than 1 percent. Its largest drop, of nearly 3 percent, occurred Nov. 11, 1963, the day Lyndon Johnson was sworn in on Air Force One following the assassination of John F. Kennedy. The largest gain, 2.7 percent, occurred Jan. 21, 1985 when Ronald Reagan took the oath of office for the second time.
TODAY....... -4.01%

Or, the dow fell on the *latest* bad new about the banking industry. Whatever you do, don't give up your day job (if you have one) to become a day trader. PS. Since we're on the subject of crazy talk coming out of one's ass, here's some of my own: The DOW will dip below 6,000 before we'll see "recovery" again. As JK would say, "Book it!".

I'm not investing (again) until that BIOTCH drops below 6,000. I'm tired of losing all my damn money. I'm giving up my day job to time the market. 6K and I'm going on a spending spree! Rags to riches, here I come!!!!!! PS. If that fails, I'm jumping ship and moving to Panama. Heck, I might do that any ways......

And I always suspect a post purported to report the facts when one of the facts is obviously in error. Lyndon Johnson was sworn in on Nov. 22, 1963 not Nov. 11th.

Given that the economy continues to spiral downwards (there is no good news for investors on the horizon), Obama's inaguration probably kept it from dropping 600 points instead of the 300 it did today.
All of the hope tied to Obama's Presidency is in stark contrast to the realities of this economy. On the front page of todays Wall Street Journal a black man, who lost his job, and now is running out of unemployment benefits, but trying to get an extension, said basically, he has no hope, he needs to see results from our new President.
I wish our new President all the best.

I hear you, but not according to the Wall Street Journal or any other publication.

The best thing that we have to lok forward to is the country has been given someone that a large portion of the country feels like they can rally behind. Solidarity is the key and he atleast provides a hope for that. I wasn't a big Obama supporter. But I become more supportive everytime I see and hear him. Maybe I am just the newest addition to the American fooled population. But I think I would rather be fooled and have hope of light at the end of the tunnel, than to know that I am phucked. With that said. Did you see the First couple getting jiggy with it when the First Lady's high school went by?

Are you kidding? All we have heard about is the color of his skin. That has been a point of celebration within the party, pretty much all they want to talk about. Personally, I'd love it if they moved past that and into what he's going to do.

This is how we know we have not come very far just yet. When they say this was the most historic event of our lives because of the color of our new presidents skin or because of what hangs (or doesn't hang) in ones pants we are not past sex or race. Sad that his skin color is the only thing they seem to think is historic about yesterday. One day everyone will be judged equal as King said but that day isn't today. I for one hope he is the greatest president in history because we can use him if he is. If he can do half of what they have set the high bar for we will be alright. He has my 100% backing and lets all pray he is the man everyone thinks he is.

Parker, You've been reading to much of Bill Fleckenstein's stuff. Do you have a stuffed bear at home? I had to do a google search on that dude. Never heard of him and no, I don't have a stuffed bear at home. I want to shoot one, though! I'd love to have a bear skin rug!

He's our president now, so he also has my backing 100%, until he messes up.
Time to stop talking about race. Time to move forward.
