State deficit is not 6 Billion as previously reported. It's 8 or 9 Billion... ...reported on local news today. I had actually heard the figure 8 Billion a couple of weeks ago, but didn't repeat it. But it's out in the open now for all to enjoy. On the bright side..... at least we have a "rainy day fund". Go fishing ...... screw the bureaucrats.

If the morons who run this state had supported slots and video poker in non-tribal tax paying casinos, or if they had stayed with in the spend limits outlined by initiative 601 we wouldn't be in this mess.

Or when the repugnicans were foaming at the mouth about our state trying to hold on to a budget surplus we should have said stfu.

Or when the repugnicans were foaming at the mouth about our state trying to hold on to a budget surplus we should have said stfu. Ummm,,, That is exactly what happened. Pretty hard to spin this one around and put the blame on the Republicans in this state. It was the dems that did away with the spending limits that 601 imposed. It was the dems that increased spending by 33% over the last 2 years eventhough the projected tax revenues didn't support that kind of spending.

Thank god for the Dems or we'd be a lot worse off as we are seeing at the federal level. Rossi would have revived trickle down Reaganomics already proven not to work.

So what you are saying is the dems increasing spending when the projected tax revenues wouldn't support it was OK?

You mean versus increased spending AND decreasing taxes like Bushco? Time for you nutjobs to stfu and let the other side take the reins. May not be any better but I highly doubt it will be worse.

The other side has had the reign in this state are we are up a creek. The other side has the reigns in California and they are F'ed. Maybe it is time to hold our leaders accountable instead of following them blindly.

Yup.....that's EXACTLY what you should have done the last eight years.
BTW, every state in the union has budget problems right now. Ours is minor in comparison.

So now you are willing to stick your head in the sand, and let the dipsticks in this state off the hook? Regardless of how many other states have budget issues, the point is we didn't need to be one of them. Reckless spending in Olympia is to blame. The States budget has grown by 33% over the last 2 years. Eventhough the projected tax revenue didn't support that kind of spending, they spent it anyway. And you are OK with that?

Those numbers are bogus. The total for the whole country was 51 billion. California is at 49 billion the last I heard. You might want to find some more recent numbers if you are trying to make a point. I wouldn't expect you would want to spread mis-information.

Just telling right wing nut jobs whom obviously would be making excuses for a repub or blaming clinton to stfu. This state has been run into the ground by those in charge. This is a dem state and they are responsible no matter how you spin it. Now with that said, there are plenty of other states that are in Rep hands that have done the same thing so they are no better in most instances. It is only govern that can dig themselves into a huge hole and think they can dig twice as fast to get out of it. If we grew to fast and spent to much we need to stop spending and adjust to balance the books. Cut back. If my business was in the red, I would cut costs and find a way to be profitable. Once there I would start trying to build again and grow(at a slower pace if needed). I dont have the option to just raise taxes, pass bills and take more from people though. O' if only I have the IRS to go after those that dont pay their bill.

Geeze for being from the "tolerant progressive party" you sure are full of hate and bigotry towards anyone who doesn't think along your political lines. Economics are cyclical, regradless of which breed of ass hole is running the country. What washington (st) has done spending way beyond there means is wrong and DEM's did it, just like in Cali. So get the FUK over yourself, pull off your blinders, and try and think logically. Bush is gone, get the fuk over it, (btw he didn't follow any Republican principlies with regards to spending, alienating many is republicans) we have a new incompetent, albeit eloquent speaking, ass hole in the office now who's planning on making even bigger deficits, but atleast he'll raise my taxes and my bosses taxes which i'm sure will get me a raise.
