Although I release all native steelhead (as required by law where I fish), and throw all hatchery bucks back the last half of the season (you can only eat so much), I need to find a place, preferably in Washington state, where I can legally catch and kill a 30 lb steelhead. I want to make sure I can post pictures of the fish on PP, since all that heat just warms the soul with enlightened comments.....

If y'all spent half as much energy in changing the law as y'all did in cussin' and swearin' about a legally caught fish, y'all might have something more productive to show for it.....If you don't like the results, change the damn law!!!!

Some of us y'alls have worked for years to change the rules about wild steelhead kill and didn't say a word about killing that large buck. Of course it upset me but it was legal.

Few of here can agree on much but we just about all can agree that killing a 30lb steelie is worth bitching about. Few of those fish out there and they are needed to hopefully produce a few more in the future. Eat a damn hatchery fish if you are hungry or drive five miles down the road and buy one out of the back of someones trunk on the res if you just have to taste a native. They didn't make it anyway. If a 30lb has beaten the nets and made it to teh grounds no fisherman should bonk it in this day and age when all you need is measurements to mount it.
Lastly, we all do what we can and for some that is more than others. There are good people here that work hard and many other that contribute in their own way be it time or money. Just because it states in the law that it is OK does not make it right. And without people to organize themselves on sites like this there would be no organization and fight at all.

If you spent less time trolling this board and more time on the "other" board that you frequent where you don't try to stir the pot, you would look that much less stupid.

Telling observation about that "other" board, snivelheader.net; there is a thread about that Hoh 30 pounder, and not a single person either noticed or mentioned it was a wild fish. But there were comments about BBQs and canning fish.

Actually, I really like PP. It's the most religious of any of the steelhead boards. Several folks like gohardley are the High Priests of the Holier Than Thou, Most Self Righteous Church of the Progressive Movement. This Holier Than Thou, Most Self Righteous Church doesn't exist anywhere else, except in right wing Evangelical Churches (think Jimmy, Tammi and all those other good folk). I only come here for the spiritual fulfillment that I find.

I'm curious if this guy will get any endorsement offers or free gear or both for his "record" fly rod caught fish. Money and/or fame can really challenge some people's ethics. I'm not defending what he did, but I ask myself what I would do if I knew I could pocket enough money from manufacturer's to have a retirement fund. Down here, a record largemouth bass might net you $1,000,000.00 or more for endorsements. Then again, bass fishermen aren't as noble as steelie fishermen...
