Sweaty, loud, Nicko Mc Brain...what more do you need? Need Love They don't make bass players like that anymore. I defy you not to have this riff stuck in your head the rest of the day.

pretty sure but you can't name any?
I'll tell you what's wrong with MOST bass players nowadays.....no frickin groove. Aping the rhythm guitar. No concept whatsoever of crafting a tone from their instrument. Over reliance on effects instead of their rig. Inability to improvise. I can go on of course...too many eigth notes, not enough whole notes and bends, not enough chords
...and for the record, Pat Travers was substantially before my time.

the problem brewer has seen in recent years is quite sad to say the least. the quality of modern "rock" music is so poor and awefull. it's very pathetic to see the teen generation litening to the black rap genre. there are no great bands in todays music, that keeps the youth of today rocking... wheres the Zeppilens of the 70s? the van halen/guns n roses of the 80s? the nirvana/pearl jams of the 90s?????
SAD,SAD AND SAD!!! my point exactly......old farts and their music. dont get me wrong, i enjoy all of the music you just mentioned, but there is plenty of good music out there, you just need to know where to look.

Why use the word "black" at all, then?

Why use the word "black" at all, then? EnglishPete agrees with Brewer, that is why EnglishPete listens to The Beastie Boys when he wants to feel like a man of the urban jungle.

Brewer... Nico McBrain is the drummer, not the bass player in h2o's vid... before his Iron Maiden days.
Pat Travers rocked! I saw him live 4 or 5 times in the late 70's. Tommy Aldredge was playing drums for him by then and Pat Thrall was co-lead guitar. I always thought he took the Robin Trower vibe, sped it up and made it heavier.
Pat Travers' "Heat in the Street" album was his best, IMO. It was out before he became semi-popular with "Snortin' Whiskey" and "Boom Boom out go the Lights." The second song on it called "Killer's Instinct" was my favorite.
