Salmo, it's a dead give away to a few. If you've been there you'll know, and that's fine with me, cause my sharing of the picture probably wont change anyones plans.
If you haven't been there, it's not exactly a dead giveaway, for most folks anyway.. smile

I just really liked the photo and thought I'd share it with you all..

I heard that Todd once survived 23 days on the river just on the trailmix that he shook out of that thing.

Any truth to that?

I see a lot of nice fish here and a lot of exaggeration in sizes as well!

If you think a fish is really 40 inches and 20 pounds, you had better have a thicker tail than those fish.....still awesome fish though!

I caught one fish that may have been 20 and the tail was MASSIVE to me and I am 6'3".

Just reminds me of that saying from old timers of more 20 pounders and 30 pounders than ever being caught and released. Because of netting, the fish should be smaller than ever and because of c&r the numbers are totally off base whereas in the past the numbers were made off the scale and they were much more conservative.

Sounds like you haven't caught many big fish jason, bummer. frown What I'm thinking of doing is on my catch and release net I'm going to attach a digital scale. When I net one simply raise the net above the waterline and get a weight. Subtract the net of the weight and bingo! Then I can satisfy people like you Jason, so I can hit the magical land of 20lb steelhead.

Brad has some sizable mits on him. It's not that the tail is small.........it's just that his hands are big.

And I'll kill anyone.........real bad......... who asks why it was that I noticed.

Hey Brad, how big is your gf holding that fish? She looks tiny to me and she can get her paw firmly on that fish's tail and it is a 41X21....

Your first fish at the top looks like it could be a true 20 to me....maybe....but who the [censored] knows...it is still swimming.

What makes you think my comment was directed at you anyway?

You are right I haven't caught many big fish but I am not jealous, I just think exaggeration is rampant these days. Some of the oldest wisest eyes I know, guys who have slayed many times more steelhead than I have caught, put most of these 25 pounders at 18 pounds. Those formulas are just a load of horseshit is what I am saying.

What would you rather catch? I legit 20 pounder or a horseshit 20 pounder? I feel like they are all awesome but I try and guide people into the reality of it because it makes the real deal that much more special. The real deal is a [censored] beast, just look at English Pete's 30 pounder. None of the supposed mid 20 steelhead I see look even a smidgen close to that thing and none of them were actually weighed unlike English-Douche-Knuckle-Pete's. Look at your 40X24 and look at Pete's. Do you really think the difference is only 5 pounds? Like I said, the forumlas are horseshit or the tape is stretched...

Not saying those aren't [censored] amazing fish dude! Peace.

i landed that fish for brad.

measurement estimates put it at just under 30lbs. i will disagree with that estimate. i put it at 24-26 range.

brad is 6'3" as well and i am 6'1"

the fish was a toad, i have never seen in person or picture a steelhead that had that much girth compared to its length.

jason please return to trout fishing in your local pond.

Posting numbers just makes people argue...it was a pretty good sized fish, that'll have to do. smile

Fish on...

Todd is right on in that numbers aren't important. I do sometimes like to measure fish in an attempt to better calibrate my estimations. I will say that when we put the tape on it though, we both looked at each other with big eyes. smile

Brads's first fish is farking enormoussssssssss.

There have been large number of large fish the last couple of years and not all of that is exaggeration.

My bad to get involved.....

But...look at the pics of English-Douche-Pop-Pete's 31 pounder. Makes most 20 pounders look like teeners and most mid teens look like maybe 20.

Todd's fish is the only thing that come close in this thread.

Nobody cares about accuracy? I guess that is fishing alright wink

Some people care about accuracy.... They need to learn how to relax though. Its not a race or a competition. English Petes "record" does not mean chit. That fish could have been bigger, and more importantly, hit the gravel, had it been released.
Who really cares if these fish are 15, 20, or 25 pounds? Enjoy the opportunity to fish for them. Enjoy the opportunity to encounter them.
