I guess my narrow minded hick ass can't seem to grasp what it is that made you say that.

Your truck might be bigger than mine. Unless it is a Ranger. I used to smoke "experimentally" and my vote did not get placed for the dem since I tried to register too late. So you might be right about it being a close race and being considered a Lib.

Honoring those who died is honorable, glorifying those who died is self-serving. Wow tough crowd here. Where did you serve America SirCharles Pete? It's still ok if you did not serve at all. We protected your freedoms and right to disagree for you. There is no political or money hidden agenda behind honoring and glorifying our troops, past, present and future. That video was a worthy tribute to them, nothing more, nothing less. Thank you Mr. Magicfly. It's "Nanook" but some guy on here from Alaska "stold" my name. LOL. Peace. Good to see you around again Rick.

I guess some folks will never understand showing appreciation for the people who die to protect us and our way of life. Dear Flub- I will make this as simple as possible - watch the following video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=O0IONAupqP0Now, raise your hand (and try not to hit yourself in the face when you do) to answer the following questions: Was this program interrupted by commercial sponsors? Were there any movie/rock/country/wannabe tv stars attending? Did any of the people in attendance pay an admission fee? I could go on, but even you might have a 4 watt bulb glowing over your head by now. Unless you can show that the original event was completely donated, and I mean down to the electric bill being waived and the evian water was free to the attendees, it does not honor soldiers like the video I just posted. It was a FOR PROFIT EVENT, and those profits did not go to the honorable men and women either in attendance or in service. Capitalizing on patriotism. Have a coke and a smile.

Boobie- Are you somehow better than the deckhand of a commercial fishing boat that is "just making a living." More to the original point, do you make a living at the expense of the servicemen and women of your country? Please, do not lower your illumination level to that of Grub, I have "higher" hopes for you.

English Pete,
You still continue to not get it. While I will agree that your video had no commercial breaks and had no wannabe rock stars and tv stars, there is a HUGE point that you fail to notice. Every one of those people there have paid an admission fee. It is called being the family member of a serviceman. Everyone of those people spent countless days of their lives without that man so that he may attend to his country's calling. Everyone of those people missed countless birthday's, either his own or his children's or his wife's. Shall I continue? How about the years of time that man had most likely accumulated away from his family? You are a tool and there is no way about it. If a music star puts on a display of appreciation by showing it at a large for profit benefit, what difference does it make? So what. Somebody made a buck off it. Does that make the performance any less grateful? You seem to look passed the point of the performance and see only the bad. You sir, are a pessimist and will not see anything otherwise. Too bad.
You seem to be avid in the art of looking things up on the web. Perhaps you should spare a moment of your trolling to do a search on how the same individual that performed in the video, also performs for the USO and visits troops overseas. Oh yeah, the USO is not for profit but rather a group that collects donations in any shape or form for the benefit of service men and women. Try not to break your pinky while sipping your hot cup o' tea at your computer in your warm house in your free country while looking it up.

Thanks for your service Nanook. And up yours EP! I served 8 years from 62 - 69. No I never made it to "country" but would have willingly gone. I saw plenty of Nam vets happy to attend concerts on Okinawa and gladly paid or had someone pay for them so the entertainers could appear. I proudly toast and honor the fallen heroes, a few were friends, they are all loved! They will never be forgotten! The kind mentioned below will be forgotten, you can count on it!
John Stuart Mill, said, "War is an ugly thing, but not the ugliest of things. The decayed and degraded state of moral and patriotic feeling which thinks that nothing is worth war is much worse. THE PERSON who has nothing for which he is willing to fight, nothing which is more important than his own personal safety, is a miserable creature and has no chance of being free unless made and kept so by the exertions of better men than himself."

It's a small world Jhook ! God bless you and thanks for your service too. Nice to talk with you again. I spent two years on that Okinawa rock at NAVCOMSTA Okinawa and at the Naval Message Center in Naha. Good Times, Bad Times, you know I had my share Too bad I got spit on when I got home after two years in the Gulf Of Tonkin. Apparently still some spitters out there. Oh well. God bless them too.
