Banker here.
Not necessarily a politicians fault. It was the excessive greed of a number of bankers in the large national banks who are at fault for deviating from sound lending practices.
It doesn't matter who is in office, greedy people will always find a way to screw with the economy. A little greed is good. Too much of it, very bad.

The consumers also helped the downfall by spending borrowed money. As someone that has been in the title and escrow business a long time, 2nd mortgages and lines of credit using a home's equity as a means for spending is somewhat new. I've had 4 files cross my desk today wherein the home owner's refi'd countless times over a 10 year period and then lost the home to foreclosure. One couple had owned the home for over 15 years but spent their way into the street with numerous lines of credit. Yea, changes in banking rules helped lead the way to our current situation but they were responding to the demands of the consumer.

I'm sick of both partys and am convinced they are both owned by the big corporations and Wall street banks, but it would be hard to deny that the Republicans were aggressively pushing the deregulation that opened the door to all the financial shenanigans that created this mess. The Bush administration was actually stopping State regulators from enforcing state regulations that were in place to keep much of this mess from happening. I've been reading predictions of this disaster since 2003, but the authors of these articles were all belittled as chicken little doom an gloomers. Why wasn't the lesson of the Savings and Loan disaster of the Bush I administration learned? http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/content/article/2008/02/13/AR2008021302783.html

It all boils down to this - I'm right, everyone else is wrong, and anyone who disputes this is clearly a dumbfuck.

The lesson is the voters are too f'n stupid and easily distracted to hold anyone accountable..................for anything.
Just say "terror", "abortion", or "change", or "gay marriage" and virtually the entire voting bloc will spend their time bickering over those subjects, rather than demand that someone be held accountable for trillions of dollars being fleeced from them.
Ask them what's happening on American Idol or Dancing With The Stars and they'll tell you, though.
It's a sad case of getting what we deserve.

Wave a shiny object and the sheep get distracted.
I need to fish with Dan again some time. Sooner the better. He needs to bring his own rods though.

-Hey KK,are you saying what I think you are saying? The S&L scandal was a trial run for the mother of all scams that ended up with the tax payer on the hook for hundreds of billions of $ ?

He needs to bring his own rods though. Yeah, but I read somewhere recently that he makes his own yarn balls. That's something, anyway.

I'm part Nez Perce and you can kiss my brown ass. And it's been proven that indians lack an ezime needed to process alcohol. That's why they dont' know when to quit. Argue it all you want, it doesn't change the facts.
And thats right, I am an asshole and don't forget it! BooooYahhhh
