There are like 1000 "styles" of BBQ, you can read about North Carolina style, or St Louis style, or Kansas City style. Yet none seems--after reading a lot of them--to remind me of the basic sauce used at Dixies...

I'm NOT talking about The Man (yes, it's hot, just a little for me, thank you). I'm talking about the sauce they mix into their pork before it's served on sandwiches... I enjoy it -- it's clearly tomato based, but I've not found any recipes which I believe are in the same direction.

Any thoughts/ideas?

IR If you find yourself on my side of the bridge try RoRo's on Stoneway and about 37th. Also Paseos across from West Marine at Shilshole...that one is Caribean style and it is excellent (only seating is outdoors though). I've got a link to Paseos on my facebook page. I discovered that one after a fishing trip last summer and love that place! It's where FatBurger used to be.

I have not yet met the man.

Probably my all time favorite BBQ is the Wednesday all you can eat beef ribs at 3 Pigs. It's about $15-20 bucks but well worth it. Get the sauce on the side, not in your beard!

Slightly off topic but I was at Dixie's a couple months ago and was told Gene was in the hospital with cancer. frown I wonder how long his family will keep it open.
