He can make a lot of sense, but enjoys his own nonsense too much,to be taken seriously by the masses.

I don't know if he's get the credentials to be President, but King of the Chickenhawks would be no problem. Wonder how he feels about a mandatory draft system, I'll bet he thinks it would be a crappy idea.

You only get one chance to be a patriot, even if you personally think the conflict is wrong, you step up and do your duty. Pukefaces like the draft dodging Ted Nugent, don't deserve to own an American flag. Seeing him prance around pretending to be a patriot makes me want to puke.

I'm slow to jump aboard the semantics Band Wagon.
(1): Do I think/know that The Troops dig Ted and his message(s)? Yes. (2): Do I think there are folks of far greater profile than Ted,doing far less? Yes.
(3): Do I think The Troops are aware of same? yes.
(4): Do I think the USA would enjoy Freedoms currently unbeknownst to us,had Ted been a Lifer in the Army? Nope.
(5): Is my perception of same,a unique stance? Nope.
(6): Do I think Ted has Love for his Country,above/beyond the status quo? Yep.
(7): Do I think that stance has cost him both cash and relative opportunity(s)? Yep.
(8): Does he ever bitch about same? Nope.
(9): Does he travel abroad in the interest of The Troops,in this current age of not saying [censored]? Yep.
(10): Would Ted place third in a Popularity Contest bantied The Troops, betwixt himself,Obama and Junior Bush? Nope.
In fairness,Ted gives quite a bit of himself.

There's more to patriotism than self proclamation or media bluster and blather. But if you want to idolize a coward, by all means do so, just don't try to pass him off as something he really isn't.

I've concluded after much thought that there are those who do the fighting, and those who let them. The old adage of "Run, run, run away. Live to fight another day." is the theme song of those who often say, "I'm right behind you." Of course they show up when it's safe with a bullet that might have been useful in the fray, but they were too busy saving their own ass. The price tag for such choices is unknown to me, as it should be....but I'm sure there is one.
I've never met a coward who admitted it.....but I've seen it action.

"Chickenhawk" (also chicken hawk and chicken-hawk) is a political epithet used in the United States to criticize a politician, bureaucrat, or commentator who strongly supports a war or other military action, yet who actively avoided military service when of age.
The term is meant to indicate that the person in question is cowardly or hypocritical for personally avoiding combat in the past while advocating that others go to war in the present. Generally, the implication is that "chickenhawks" lack the experience, judgment, or moral standing to make decisions about going to war.

Funny that the RWWJ's would choose Ted as their patriotic idol, given his cowardly past and all, but hey one man's traitor is another mans hero. Here's to the future adult Depends spokesperson Ted Nugent, and the fools who think he's some kind of hero.

Freespool your arguments are way off track of the content of the video. No body is choosing Ted as a patriotic idol. The video portrays Ted's compeling view of our second amendment rights and the "gaggle" of people who think its better for inocent people to die while criminals get chance after chance.
I agree with Big Stick in that you are singling out one draft doger and not the whole lot.

The reason is simple, the other draft dodgers aren't trying to pass themselves off as super patriots. He's one big giant hypocrite, but hey if you like Sarah and Rush, Ted probably is your hero.

funny thread this is turning into..... Big Stick to me..."There's some long leashes in this World and you tread upon one." Really? You had better look again, because there's only one end of your leash with anyone on it. Nugent? Who he is, only he knows. Do I know him? No. Do I like him? Can't answer that, don't know him, but my impression is that I might. I do, however, like what he had to say in the video. IMO, we would all be safer if everyone had a gun. The good guys have always outnumbered the bad. You would have to be suicidal to be a crook. The thought makes me smile ![smile smile](/forum/images/graemlins/default_dark/smile.gif)

I've been aware of the accusations against Ted Nugent for quite a while. I'm reluctant to go either way regarding him. I DO agree on his strong support of hunting and strong dislike of emotional treehuggers, but he does hunt inside the fence quite a bit. Not my cup o tea. This is what he was quoted as saying before possibly being drafted... NOT MY WORDS, so don't kill the messenger. In a July 15, 1990, Detroit Free Press interview, Nugent crowed about how he managed to dodge the draft. He claims that 30 days before his draft board physical, he disavowed personal hygiene. The last ten days he ingested nothing but junk food and Pepsi, and with a week to go until the physical, he stopped using the bathroom altogether. When the big day came, he had been living in excrement-caked and urine-stained pants. Always the hero, however, Nugent reassured the Free Press, “But if I would have gone over there, I’d have been killed, or I’d have killed all the Hippies in the foxholes. I would have killed everybody.” I've seen this bantered about for years. Some refuse to believe it, lefty treehuggers brag of it. True? I don't know, but it is a cloud that hangs over the Nuges' head.

He's definitely not everybody's cup of tea but I still like Cat Scratch Fever. It's no secret if you hunt your own property, don't shoot the does and spare the bucks...lmao Also watched Ted hunt Africa, he put an arrow in any/everything that got within the ONLY watering hole for miles....lol I agreed with his message, other than that.... #1 rule in my life. Never discuss religion or politics.
That bieng said................
Love or hate Ted.....he has been a figure for the free world and gun rights.
He may have dodged the draft, but I cant say that I blame him. The difference between now and then.......You have a choice today. It wasnt right at the time, but thats the way it was.
Freespool, you served our country, THANK YOU.
Dont hate a man for not going to hell against his will.....nobody should.
I was born in 1960, so I missed the draft. But I was one of the first to sign up for military service if the time came again.
God willing, we will never see those days again.

As a rule I have no love for draft dodgers and little love for war protesters as I think they undermine the morale of the fighting personnel. VHawk was one who never quite got it when I told him that soldiers would rather hear, "Thanks" than, "Oh, I'm so sorry."
That said, I saw a bumper sticker the other day that I can agree with.... "I'm already against the next war."

You know there are times I can't stand it.................Just to start I joined in 67 spent 12 months in country extended for 6 more that said.........in that time to dodge the draft was normal. College, get your girl friend preg & get married with kids, number of legal ways. If single, oh boy options dropped fast. From 69 on anyone who volunteered for that mess had to be just crazy. It was a meat eater of people on both sides. To say now that someone who ducked that mess is a coward is to not have been in combat in Nam. I packed my best friend out on my back while he bled out and bluntly put after a short time you don't fight for the country you fight for your buddies and screw god and country sh--. It has been said that combat is long periods of utter boredom with periods of extreme terror which is true.
There are things that were and are worth dying for............that god damn mess was not one of them! I had a commanding officer who was West Point and he made understand the military with this simple statement. "The sole purpose of the US military is to kill, maim, and destroy in defense of and in the name of the people of the United States."
Think about it before you call anyone a coward and if you haven't been in combat you don't know what the hell your talking about.

What you learn in 61 years is that off to fight injustice or whatever is not always ill advised. I chose to serve my brother chose not to. Both right in the beginning but whatever the many reasons Nam went south had nothing to do with the troops but politicians and generals who ran things. They would not let the troops fight the NVA & Charles on our terms. You don't send men to die in an ongoing holding mission. I had friends that were Cambodian. We pulled and Pol Pot and the horror of the killing fields descended upon a nation but worse even Pres. Carter has said the US congress stopping from him doing something was his greatest regret as president. President Clinton, Rwanda and the bloodbath the erupted his greatest regret for not doing something.
You see guy it is not a D or R thing or anti war ( as anybody with a brain the size of a pea is anti war ) it is how and when do you fight. Some people believe nothing is worth dieing for others shoot um all...........the answer is usually in the middle. The issue is really when, where, and how you draw the line. Patton had it right. " The way you win a war is not to die for your country but make the other son of a bitch die for his." When you send people off to fight and die, and some or many will for sure, then the nation has the responsibility to do everything in it can to destroy the enemy or stay the hell out. You just hope you have a President that knows this. Bush Sr did and got in & out ( but he was a vet ) as did Kennedy in pulling the plug on the Bay of Pigs bit ( he was a vet ) as did Ike ( he was a vet ) in bringing and end in Korea but all knew the unbelievable evil thing combat is and what it does to men and women.
Other presidents .................you know guy maybe all prezes should be required to have one day combat duty to be on point as 6 hour fire fight broke out being out numbered 2 to 1. Bet things would be different.

But according to the Internet Movie Data Base website, Nugent has been “performing professionally since 1958, non-stop yearly touring since 1967, averaging more than 300 shows per year '67-73.” Hmm, that would include the two years he was supposedly too wrapped up in his studies to be serving his country." ..."that hasn’t stopped Nugent from insisting that if he HAD served, he would have been one big mofo soldier. As the Rutland Herald reported, Here's what Nugent said he would have done if he went to Vietnam: "… if I would have gone over there, I'd have been killed, or I'd have killed, or I'd kill all the hippies in the foxholes … I would have killed everybody," he told the Detroit Free Press in an interview published July 15, 1990."" Real American Genius/Hero. Seems to me 'The Nuge' watched Full Metal Jacket a few times and decided he's Animal Mother. ![](http://www.ugo.com/movies/soldiers-in-entertainment/images/animalmother.jpg) vs The sad truth: ![](http://www.cherrybombed.com/wp-content/uploads/2008/05/ted-nugent-homo.jpg)

'guy,
Some people can smell trouble a mile away, others couldn't,despite their nose(s) being rubbed in very same.
As to Personal/Political decisions of fully four decades of age,I'd not care to be the Psychotherapist who juggles those mood swing(s). That's alotta bandwidth, much water under/over the bridge and all is fraught with supposition, frosted with copious [censored],even in the best case scenarios. Tough to deal with that...start to finish and "right" isn't even an option.
I've been blessed to know some exceedingly daring Warriors in the firsthand, none of whom I wish I knew only in passing. All should be as lucky,IMHO.
Politics is a ruse, due to the simplistic fact there are NO Ass Kickers in an serious runnings. Most overlook that. Who's the hardest ass we've had for President,in recent years? They are all sniveling suck-ups,catering to the mindless minions, hoping to ride a Magic Carpet to fame/fortune. (Reagan may be an exception of note.)
So in retrospect, weighing gain/loss,I personally believe Ted to be a stalwart of largely positive ideals. It hasn't [censored] to do with his hair,IMHO...or the number of Gooks he's killed via barehand(s). My perception is,that he's an astute working-class asshole, that has seen enough and has the means to weigh in accordance to same. Sure,MUCH of it is over the top(to me) and I ply the relative "grain of salt scale",as per always.
Do I think Ted could have derived a more common sense approach to our Nation's fiscal affairs,as opposed to Barak's handing out trillions of dollars like they were on fire?!!? Yes,I do.
Do I think Ted would turn up the heat on our Distant conflicts, then bring the boys home ASAP(and with a good feel for their Country?)? Yes,I do.
Some [censored] ain't hard.

I'd take the Revolutionary War,WWI,WWII and Hillary Clinton in no particular order and less defense to those who'd literally noble a Turkey.

I'd take issue with his embrace of the GLOCK.
Ergo's are ALL wrong.

Seems to me 'The Nuge' watched Full Metal Jacket a few times and decided he's Animal Mother. "Under fire. Animal Mother is one finest human beings to walk the earth. Just need someone to throw hand grenades at him for the rest of his life" One of my favorite movies of all time.

See my initial Reply to this Thread:
"He can make a lot of sense, but enjoys his own nonsense too much,to be taken seriously by the masses.
Shame."
